Two must see movies on the horizon

Both were filmed in part in Prague and are due out in theaters in the next few weeks.

First we have Terry Gilliam's The Brothers Grimm. I've heard good and bad about this film; but I'm still a fan of Monty Python's Gilliam. I'll go see anything he does, just in thanks for his making of Time Bandits and Brazil and The Fisher King.

"the Sound of Thunder" was also made in Prague and suffered much from the 2002 Prague floods, even bankrupting the original production company and thus delaying the release (and sadly allowing a piece of crap movie about the same basic idea with Ashton Kutcher to come out first). It is based upon Ray Bradbury's short story of the same name about a man who travels back in time on a dinosaur hunting safari and kills a butterfly which sets off a chain reaction of events which erases humanity. A much better version of the "butterfly effect" than the one which starred Demi Moore's boy toy.

The Brothers Grim looks good and if it is anything like the greatness of the Fisher King or 12 Monkeys it we be a top dollar film

Do you mean V for Vendetta? If so, all I can say is NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

I'm a big fan of Ray Bradbury as a rule, but the thing about the time travelling butterfly killing story (IIRC it changes the outcome of an election rather than eliminating mankind, in the book anyway) is, so what? Its OK as a short story, but its not really a very interesting idea if we are honest, how are they going to get a film out of that?

Terry Gilliam on the other hand is an authentic mad genius.

V for Vendetta is by Moore. The other film he was mentioning, the one about time travel, is based on a short story by Ray Bradbury. Not a particularly interesting one IMHO.

I'm struggling to imagine what V for Vendetta would have been like if it had originally been written by Bradbury (who I think of as very American, in a Mark Twain sort of way) and then adapted by Moore (who I think of as being very English, in a mad hairy real ale drinking sort of way)

Different, anyway.
