Here's a little thread to channel our repressed energies spent in frustration at how slow EB is going and how unknown the release date is :)
I rank here the factions of EB in the order that I'm going to play them, but leaving out the names of those not yet previewed except for the obvious.
1) Rome
2) Baktria
3) Aedui
4) Makedonia
5) Sweboz
6) Karthadashtim
7) Ptolemaioi
8) Casse
9) Koinon Hellenon
10) Pahlava
11) Pontos
12) Iberia
13) Arche Seleukeia
14) Sauromatae
15) Eleutheroi
Throw in your ranks!

edit: I accidently picked Seleucids.

I picked the Ptolemaioi.
I hated them in vanilla but I like what EB has done with them.

Yea i picked them also. They are great in EB ~:)
Wait...four factions missing, not including Rome? I hope you're okay to reveal that much.
Let's see... Armenia, Dacia, Thrace and..whom?
Oh, and I vote Casse.

That's only because those factions have not yet been previewed.
Voted for Pahlava ~

Ptolemaioi because they they are more interesting to me that Makedonia and those are the only 2 greek factions i have not played yet

Voted Baktria. All factions look nice, but Baktria stands out because it's not only new units but also a completely new faction, culture, strategical starting position etc. Will be an interesting start trying to hold back the fury of the gigantic Arche Seleukeia...
Perhaps Rome or Karthadashtim will be the best second choice for a campaign... I was so disappointed about being able to destroy Carthage in a few turns in my very first R:TW campaign ever - I expect Carthage in EB to be a lot stronger. The nice larger map makes Carthage more interesting to play as well, as the distances are so huge and it's harder to, as in vanilla R:TW, reach map edges and get secure frontlines. The powered up rebels (I assume EB will include), will also make maintaining of a large empire difficult. Therefore, a North African empire will be difficult in itselft to hold - expanding into Iberia and trying to threaten Rome will undoubtedly offer a challenge, even if Carthage is powered-up compared to Rome compared to vanilla R:TW.
Ptolemaioi will be a great third or fourth campaign, mostly because I was so disappointed with the pharaos :furious3: in R:TW. Finally a faction in the Nile delta that isn't ridiculously overpowered both in terms of history and gameplay ~D .

Ok, Iberia. For the second I'll choose randomly...~:)
Aedui, followed by the Sweboz
CHARGE HOME MY BARBARIAN HORDES, CRUSH ROME!!! :charge: :charge:
I voted Sweboz, but probably when i enter the faction selection screen i will spend 2 hours thinking wich faction to select.

15) Eleutheroi
I might be wrong Pez, but I believe we will be unable to play as the independent states. Unless of course you do intend to make them playable, but my guess would be that it would make the game a little... :freak:

Nope I wasn't. Which is why I will never post on the EB forum in substantial text again to prevent my unwittingly leaking out more stuff that I shouldn't.
I'm surprised; no one for Koinon Hellenon so far?
Pahlava!!!!! :charge: :charge:
That's all I ever play...
Well I might find the time to play a little Sauromatae, Baktria and Armenia (if we have it) if not I'll settle with Pontus.
I like being small with powerful units that cost a lot and you really have to take care of them because they are all you've got.

Im going Koinon Hellenon and possibly Arche Seleukia first as their my favorites. But proavly ill do it in the order the icons are when you choose, like i did in vanilla
I choose the Aedui though I liked all the factions in the old beta. The greeks come 2nd.

i chose baktria. this could change though, depending on how well armenia is done.

Voted Baktria. I'm interested in playing Karthadast, Baktria and Makedonia in that order, but I figure that the earliest open betas will be lacking features and buggy, so I'll reserve the goodness of a Karthadast campaign for later versions.

Probably Thrace or whatever it's called.

Baktria, once I saw that preview I new that factions was going to be one of my favorites ~:)
:balloon2:
what happened to "tsorim" in stead of Karthadasim?
A Roman Faction/Rome, with Macedonia as a close second. It'll probably go Rome-Macedonia-Baktria-....Any suggestions for my fourth faction?
they always have to change names for one reason or another it wouldn't surprise me if all factions have a different name in the open-beta.

Pahlava or Sauromatae. I might have to flip a coin to decide...
Baktia. Gradually steamroller over the known world...

KH is tempting, but maybe the first full build would be Pontos for me. I actually want to play *against* all the factions I like, and this would let me fight against the Maks alongside the KH or against the KH if I like, and then against the Seleukids too, and possibly the other barb factions north and east and west of the Euxine. In the middle it's not easy, but good possibilities to expand.
Baktria though has the units I most love and the most inaccessible places and mythos. I guess we just have to find a way to make it even more interesting to play as them. Maybe when all the tweaking is done they will be number one for me.

Bartix.
But after that, i think i'll play as the casse. i always wanted to play as them in vanilla, but their units were so boring...
Not to mention the "Head hurlersr" ~

Karthadastim. Just to have fun reading the Hebrew unit names.
I might be wrong Pez, but I believe we will be unable to play as the independent states. They'll be playable, just as in vanilla. You'll just have to tweak descr_strat a bit.
I miss the option "don't know yet" ~;)
They are all cool.
My favorites are Koinon Hellenon,Baktria,Sweboz,Aedui,Sauromatae,Pahlava,Iberia and Casse.
The list could be become longer ~;)
Karthadastim. Just to have fun reading the Hebrew unit names.Just a note, while we're using Hebrew to assist with the transliteration, as much as possible the unit names will be Punic. Which will, of course, be very close to Hebrew, but there are differences.

can't decide between sweboz and karthadashtim.
btw, why "karthadashtim" and not "tsorim" or "ponnim"?

The Eleutheroi. Because there's nothing more satisfying than sacking Rome with a bunch of supposedly-insignificant soldiers. I mean, who expects the great civilisations to be toppled by the Eleutheroi?
After that, the Tsorim. They're my favorite empire of the period.
what happened to Tsorim? and now kartadasim?
not much they changed their name that's all, I guess

Bactria, strangers in a strange land. Struggling to skeep the torch of Hellenism alive while enisled by barbarians on all asides. The only greeks anywhere near them are more interested in being masters than brothers. An epic tale by any measure.

Good to see Baktria is leading the poll, go Baktria! :jumping:
But how can those romans be so popular ~
Romans are nice. but then: i like javelinmen and other skirmishers (except bowmen..but thats just because of vanilla)

I picked a Roman faction, just because I haven't done any RTW in awhile, and to see how they're done. However, I could imagine myself easily playing as another faction.

Voted Pontos because it seems that it will be very challenging to play as them in the campaign an also I like the mix of hellenic and eastern units.

Just a note, while we're using Hebrew to assist with the transliteration, as much as possible the unit names will be Punic. Which will, of course, be very close to Hebrew, but there are differences.Yes, I know. But other than pronunciation, the only differences are vocabulary, and those are not insignificant, but not very large either.
btw, why "karthadashtim" and not "tsorim" or "ponnim"?As was said when the Tsorim were previewed, the name was subject to change. It has been changed to Karthadastim.
I want to play Ptolemaioi or Baktria.
Iberia...for obvious reasons...
Karthadastim...want to crush Rome...
KH...love hoplites...sue me.
