Operation Flashpoint
Infantry, helis, tanks, and planes all in one
I guess you know all the ones I'm going to mention but here's some:
-LOMAC "2": This will include a fully integrated Kamov 50 Hokum simulation. You will be able to fly a Su-27, Mig-29 etc as top cover while your buddies do the low down with Hokums, ALL in the SAME game. This simulation will be awesome, one of a kind. Now we are talking LOMAC flight models, detailed aerodynamics. As it is LOMAC has one of the best flight model engines out there, with the Ka-50, if they pull this off, just imagine it, with LOMAC grafics. It will be spectacular.
-Allied Force: Falcon 4 is back ! (http://www.simhq.com/_air5/air_160a.html) Gfx look close to LOMAC so that's a big plus. But anyway Falcon was never about graphics. This sim has a complete theater of war where you are just one aircraft among many in the theater, something that LOMAC failed to achieve completely, a dynamic campaign. And hey, remember how I was working on the airfield maps for LOMAC , well not in this one. I already got the maps:
http://www.simhq.com/_air5/images/air_160a_086.jpg
It even tells you which way to taxi from parking ! LOL ! I remember how many times I formed up on a flight in LOMAC and people did'nt know which way the runway was :D. That was funny, well anyway I love these small touches I see in Allied Force.
I remember a great mod for LOMAC which allowed you to import stuff on your notepad. AF does this for you without any mods, keyword = detail
http://www.simhq.com/_air5/images/air_160a_037.jpg
-Steel Beasts: Though outdated graphics and sound this remains a top nothc tank simulation complete with platoon tactics.
Here's a good article about helo sims:

I was going to mention T-72 Balkans on Fire, but you already got round to doing that ~D Those battlefront guys are always making little gems. I was really impressed by the demo so ill be pre-ordering soon me thinks.

What he said.
You can buy the entire IL2 series, Il2-Forgotten Battles + the ACE Expansion Pack + Pacific Fighters and a flight stick for under a hundred dollars combined.
The three IL2 series sims merge together and create an uber-WWII flightsim with dozens and dozens of flyable planes and maps from France to Mumansk to Hawaii to Nagasaki. There are hundreds of placeable ground objects allowing you to build incredible scenery, plus armour for land battles and lots of ships for some serious naval action, including carrier takeoffs and landings, battleship big gun barrages and Kamikaze attacks.
The graphics are top shelf and the flight modelling is very good (as if I know what P-47 feels like) but not always easy. You can fly a boatplane, a biplane, a ground attack aircraft, a dogfighter, or as bomber (including manning the gun turrets). There is plenty of air armament available: machine guns, cannons, tank busting heavy cannons, air to air rockets, air to ground rockets, iron bombs form 15kg to 5000kg, glide bombs, cluster munitions, napalm, anti-ship rockets, all sorts of goodies.
On the ground you can have almost anything that was used in WWII. APCs, light tanks, heavy tanks, rocket launchers, light and heavy artillery, bulldozers, trucks, buses, cars, all able to move and fight, all kinds of AAA, from machine guns to German 88s. The list is almost endless.
This isn't just the grand super enchilada of WWII flightsims, it's a whole history lesson. And with the series of patches that have come out, there are plenty of new maps and planes available. There are few other games or sims that offer this much value for the money.

I probably should have mentioned the games, that I did play. They include: IL2, LOMAC, EEAH, EECH, Silent hunter, EAW.
What I really need, is a _hardcore_ sim. Which I don't think games like IL2 is. Preferably one dealing with helicopters. So far, Sinan's suggestion look promising. And thanks all for your replies.

Yes
hmm probably the most hardcore woulkd be Allied Force (but it's not helo). In Allied Force you even have different radio frequencies, from what I have read, it's supposed to be the most in depth and detailed sim ever.
Commanche 4 is a good game but I don't think its the hardcore sim your after.
erm.........how about these?
- Flight Simulator 2004
- Combat Flight Simulator 2/3
That's all I can think of at the minute :book:

You're right. Commanche 4 is an arcade helo game, which I loathe.
Well what about Flight Sim. You can either download or buy extra planes and helicopters for the game and it is very realistic.
I think you will like this Sjak :D
Check out the screens for the Ka-50. This will be in the next (LOMAC) it may be an independent sim called Black Shark. I dunno though coz my Russian is quite sad, really ! (source: http://sukhoi.ru/articles.php?id=ed_bsh) However I remember an ED designer called Czich saying that it will feature LOMAC flyables plus KA-50. Varun would be a good person to ask since he's pretty knowledgeable about the Eagle Dynamics team. You know that he's mentioned in the Flaming Cliffs manual ? They used some of his skins ! I'm really proud to have been with that guy (and all the others) in Legion.

Isnt the KA-50 designed to act as a helicopter killer? The KA-50 is the one seater, right?
I'm not sure to be honest. I just fished this out of www.fas.org. According to this it's not meant to be solely a helo-killer. Images at the bottom of the source page suggests tandem cockpit for at least one variant, and a single seat for another variant.
Ka-50 HOKUM
Ka-52 HOKUM B
Black Shark / Werewolf
The KA-50 is a state-of-the-art and powerful battle helicopter which is in limited service with the Russian Air Force. This aircraft is not fielded. Only a handful of prototypes exist, and it has not yet been approved for full-scale production. There are two versions of the Hokum. The Ka-50 Hokum-A is a single seat close support helicopter and the Ka-52 Hokum-B two seat trainer and combat version.
The Mi-28N and Kamov Ka-50 are competing to fulfil the Russian Army Aviation requirement for a night-capable anti-tank helicopter, a replacement to the Mi-24 created 25 years ago.
The coaxial, contrarotating, three-blade main rotors are widely separated with swept-back tips, and there is no tail rotor. The equally tapered, short, stubby, weapon-carrying wings with end plates are mounted on the streamlined fuselage, which tapers to the front and rear. The fuselage, which is flat-bottomed except for the underbelly gun pod and sensor, features a flat plated glassed-in canopy. The tail is thick with a tapering tail boom and back-tapered tail fin with a square tip. The tail flats are high-mounted on the tail boom with end plates, and located forward of the fin. Twin turboshaft engines are mounted high on the fuselage above the stubby wings, with semicircular air intakes and exhausts that are turned outward.
The helicopter has a number of unique characteristics including single seat to increase combat and flight characteristics and reduce operational costs. It was designed for remote operations, and not to need ground maintenance facilities for 2 weeks. The airframe is 35% composite materials with a structural central 1m 2 keel beam of kevlar/ nomex that protects critical systems and ammunition. The fully armored pilot's cabin can withstand 23-mm gunfire, and the cockpit glass 12.7-mm MG gunfire. The Zvezda K-37-800 pilot ejection system functions at any altitude, and enables a successful ejection at low altitude and maximum speed.
External stores are mounted on underwing external hardpoints. Each wing has two hardpoints for a total of four stations. A typical mix for targeting armor formations is 12x AT-16 ATGMs, 500x 30-mm cannon rounds, and 2x 20-round pods of 80-mm folding fin unguided rockets. The 30-mm cannon is the same as on the BMP-2. It also carries guided air-to-air missiles IGLA-V (Needle C), already extensively tested and sold to buyers abroad. The Shark's avionics is largely in line with what is the norm for one-seater fighters and ground attack jets. It's most remarkable feature is a remote targeting system with a capability to provide for a sudden deadly attack from a distance that rules out direct visual contact with the target. The firing computer will turn the aircraft to keep the gun on target. It is equipped with downlink to provide information from the battlefield. The targeting and control system and weaponry enable accurate target engagement at ranges of up to 10km.
The KA-50 features unique maneuvrability and operating characteristics due to the contra-rotating co-axial rotors. The coaxial counter-rotating rotor system negates the need for a tail rotor and its drive system. Because of this, this aircraft is unaffected by wind strength and direction, has an unlimited hovering turn rate, and gives a smaller profile and acoustic signature, while allowing a 10-15% greater power margin. The HOKUM is fully aerobatic. It can perform loops, roll, and “the funnel”, where the aircraft will maintain a concentrated point of fire while flying circles of varying altitude, elevation, and airspeed around the target.
VARIANTS
Ka-50A/HOKUM A: Standard direct air support variant.
Ka-50N/HOKUM N: Night attack variant fitted with a nose-mounted FLIR. The cockpit is fitted with an additional TV display, and is NVG compatible.
Ka-52/HOKUM B: The “Alligator” is a side-by-side, two-seat cockpit variant of the Ka-50. The gross weight of the aircraft is greater, so the performance is marginally degraded. But airframe characteristics, dimensions, and armaments are relatively similar. It includes a mast-mounted millimeter wave radar covering the front quadrant only. It is used as an attack aircraft, and as a trainer for the Ka-50.
Beginning in 1997 Kamov company, in partnership with IAI, began competing in the tender for a $4 billion contract for the supply of 145 combat helicopters to the Turkish Army. In compliance with the tender requirements, KAMOV/IAI group submitted the required documentation on the Ka-50-2 Erdogan tandem twin-sitter in November 1999. On 06 March 2000, Bulent Ecevit, the Prime Minister of Turkey, announced that Boeing and Eurocopter, French/German company, would be excluded from the list of the Bidders for the combat helicopters supply contract. Among the remaining competitors for the contract award are KAMOV/IAI (Israel Aircraft Industries Ltd.) group with its Ka-50-2 Erdogan, Agusta company from Italy with its A129 Mongoose and Belltextron company from the USA with its AH-1Z King Cobra.

Intersting to see the Luftansa tail in the background. This is likely a shot from an airshow. This is the single seater I believe due to the narrow canopy.

Here you can see the two seater cockpit wiht split canopy.
http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/ac/row/ka-52-1.jpg
On a separate note, I also read on FAs that the B-52 is expected to fly past 2037 and may still be flying in 2045. That's likely going to be the aircraft with the longest service record ever.

OK. The next version will be called Lock On: Black Shark 1.02. It will be an addon to Lock On. It's in alpha version, see thread: http://forums.ubi.com/groupee/forums/a/tpc/f/38610606/m/7601068843
Another sweet screenshot, actually check the thread for more. Awesome cockpit.:

Here's the English forum at Lockon.ru Eagle Dynamics official forum since they dumped Newbiesoft. Lots of Hokum discussion going on here:
http://forum.lockon.ru/forumdisplay.php?f=33
there is one major problem wiht the Lock on engine according to oen of the posts in that forum (unconfirmed) that this engine does not support moving skeletal models (like infantry). Let's see what they can come up with would be imperative to see moving infantry platoons, regiments, battalions. Whole 16 unit armies EVEN !

If you wanted a truly hardcore sim, you could try this:
Sub Command: Seawolf-Akula-688(I) (PC)
http://archive.gamespy.com/reviews/december01/subcommand
Sub Command is a new, but also a mature product. Sonalysts, the development company, worked before on the 688(I) Hunter/Killer sub sim and Jane's Fleet Command. They clearly added lessons learned from those experiences to their already extensive naval warfare knowledge. The combination results in a product that's both authentic and elegant. The realism factor is high and requires players to simulate, or at least understand nearly every aspect of submarine command. Users access several stations to operate such things as sonar, helm, periscope, weapon, and radar functions. Menus and keyboard shortcuts enable quick access to stations and each panel is crisp and legible.
These panels, of course, don't require some massive 3D acceleration to drive their graphics. Video hounds don't have to worry because the Sonalysts folks were good about making some concessions for all types of players. Although the most realistic experience comes from playing Sub Command entirely at the internal stations, there is a 3D representation of the world displayed in an optional window.
That view is purely a gimmick, however, because it has no tactical significance during play. Sub Command is staunchly hardcore and players must learn much about real submarine operations if they want to succeed in the dozens of single and campaign missions. Some of this material, like performing target motion analysis (TMA) is tricky. There's depth to some of this learning; the concepts of sonar and stealth are similar across all submarines, but Sub Command even models differences in the station panels and technology of the four included in the game, the American 688(I) and Seawolf, and the Russian Akula and Akula II.
Sonalysts tried to make this learning curve scalable. There's a two hundred-page manual for the game, though it's unfortunately a digital copy rather than a printed one. There are also the excellent interactive tutorial missions, but the three included are not enough for a sim of this complexity. More useful are the difficulty settings that allow computer crewmen to handle many of the intricate and manually intensive tasks. Played in this mode, users issue commands and the crew follows them, adding to a sense that the player is truly the commander of the boat. More than just a nice feature, this is a great alternative way to play. It also ties in to the optional voice command feature that comes in form of a Microsoft utility. I did not test this, so I can't comment on how well the Microsoft voice piece works, but similar functionality could probably be rigged via utilities like Game Commander.
Gameplay itself is also different from that of other sims. As a good submarine sim should be, it's about patience and stealth. Victory is a matter of being the sneakier and more careful commander, and players used to the frenetic pace of action games, or even some flight sims, might find Sub Command an uncomfortable departure. In some missions, the goal isn't to shoot anything at all, but to merely serve as a deployment vehicle for SEALs, or rendezvous with a rescue team. Sub Command's slower pace doesn't necessarily translate into an unexciting game.
I used to play this obsessively before I broke my second CD -It has the additional benefit of driving your entire household mad with the continious pinging of the Sonar.
But as the above review states it is a hardcore sim, in that you need a hell lot of patience(A typical game is usually 5-7 hours long) and a new pair of Hi-Fi headphones in case you intend to act as your own sonar operator.
That's one I always wanted to try out.
Got some new High Res 1600*1200 screenshots of Black Shark here:
