I read in the FAQ at totalwar.com that the traditional greco/roman theology will be grouped together with a whole slew of others as pagan. I understand those beliefs were starting to wane and that the Romans were somewhat tolerant of other cultures as long as they payed lip service to their gods so belief in those gods was never rooted very deeply in conquored territories (if anyone has any links I'd find em interesting BTW :book: )

I'm a big fan of greco-roman mythology and I'm dissapointed they are grouped with celtic druidism and all that. I hope they don't represent it with a pentagram too. Does anyone feel the same way?

I know at this stage something like that probably won't be changed, hehe. I still don't have RTW because I am waiting to get a nice new computer when I know the specs for Elder Scrolls Oblivion ~, so I will get it eventually.

As a side note, rumors has it that Oblivion will demand the spec similar to Half-Life 2. I'm not very sure though.

Dang, my comp sucks...

An evergreen would be the best symbol since it was used by pretty much everyone including the Romans, Huns, Celts, Babylonians, Sumarians, Persians, Assyrians, Eggies, Greeks.... etc.

It was pretty much one of the most wide spread pagan symbols of rebirth which was even fused into a Christianity as the Christmas Tree among other things. I rather have a evergreen tree to represent Pagans rather than the stupid pentagram.

3 religions in BI(until now):

Paganism, Christianity and Zoroastrian.

Hopefully we can add more religions, because grouping all of them into pagan, I hate it.

I would like to see Christianity differentiated into the Roman state religion and the Arian Christians, which were more common with the converted Barbarians. It would allow some tension between the "right thinking" Christians and the "deluded" Arians.

Your assuming that Christian is like Zoroastrianism. When it could be like Pagan. There could be several orthodox and heterodox brands of christianity.

Worked well in RTW.
Different temples, different bonuses, cultural penalty...

Actually it makes sense for it to be grouped.

While the Greco-Roman Religion was the official state religion in the Roman Empire, the Romans during the Pagan period were tolerant of all other faiths including the jews.

So politically it wouldn't make sense for you as a Pagan to persecute other Pagans since that didn't happen historically, which from what I understand of how the game will work you would have to do if Paganism was not bunched together.

For example would it make sense to persecute followers of the Galliac Gods and Godessess remembering how popular Epona was, or would it make sense for you to persecute worshipers of Mithras who was more popular then Jupiter himself, or would it make sense to persecute the Egyptian Pantheon remembering that Isis was among the most popular godessess?

Do you see were I'm going with that, not bunching up paganism would mean you would need to do persecutions that are totally ahistorical.

The symbol for the Greek Cities would be a good symbol for Paganism, but the Alter of Victory from the Senate, or the Pantheon, would be good to.

I guess I see what you mean..
I think those two symbols would be far better than the pentagram!
