Hi Guys!

Am new to using the mods that all the talented people here have developed, and was wondering if I could start a thread for the 'Non - Mod Making Gifted ' for maybe putting in a few suggestions that Modders might take up.

If there is already a mod or similar for the RTW game I'm going to mention then please feel free to point it out. Please add to the list too. :)

I have spent many hours here reading through threads so I think my suggestions will be pretty safe.

There are some amazing mods here and it's a real treat to visit and read through the posts. I would like to thank all you Modding guys, of any mod, for all your efforts. And the Guild for hosting this site of course. I'm sure they are valued by many on forum and off.

Suggestions

1. A Shogun Mod for RTW. (Vanilla sort, I think you call it). I know there is the game, which I've just managed to track down for 50$ on ebay this week! (I'm in Aus, we pay a lot : ( and just wanted a copy ), but I also know it will be of the old engine type total war series. Without the realism of RTW.

Would love to see a port over of STW to RTW. I think it would be awesome. I know they are very different in nature as stand a lone games, but a detailed Shogun game, of RTW qualtiy would be amazing I think.

I am aware of that particular chinese kingdom mod (forgot name sorry), But I'd love to play a Medieval Japanese Campaign sort of mod.

2. Stone Age sort of Mod. I am aware of the Age of Man mod but I think that's the one where they are attempting to incorporate many eras of human civilisation. Ambitious undertaking and all good luck to them. However, a simple sort of Dawn of Man mod or something would be very cool I think.

3. Knights of the Templar era type mod. I know there is the Chivalry mod, (looks great btw) but how about one that focuses around the Crusades specifically. A small type of mod maybe. With a more localised map.
A 'Mini Mod' if you like.

I am eager to learn how to mod, however from what I've read it's a serious undertaking, and these forums are definitely a starting point and indication of that, but just thought I'd throw around a few suggestions and see what people think. Hopefully someone might be able to make one ~ or point at the way to go about making one.

I apologise in advance if I have missed any mods that fit the bill. However this forum is very large and sometimes the links you are looking for are in a specific post in a long thread. I read the finished mod forums to see if any there are of what I've described but to no avail. And looking at the mods forum of course.

So, that's my wish list. Maybe a Modder looking for a new project would be kind enough to give one of these a bit of a go.

Feel free to add your own if in my position... 'Modding Ungifted'. Or if a Modder, and have already done it and wish to prove my many hours of searching has been fruitless then please do! lol!

Also, some Mod management tool would be excellent. My hard drive is getting filled up quickly. I am aware of the Mod Switcher but I have a little difficulty using it. Great Idea btw.

Also, a Mod that saves in game battle replays would be excellent.

And, last but not least, and forgive my ignorance on not understanding how textures work, or if someone has done it already , but... A Mod that modifies colours of units and choosing banners would be excellent. That is in game friendly and saves schemes.

Thankyou for your time guys.

I'm off to learn how to mod. (I know one of you will suggest this :P) Slowly, and computer illiterately.(and there is my reason !lol! :help: ) Hope this thread can be productive or contribute in some way.

Have a good one!

ChivalryTW will eventually include a provincial campaign based on the crusades. This won't happen until after then High Era release tho.

Thanks Adherbal :)

Have found a link for Sengoku Jidai a shogun type mod for RTW too, of this forum.

Sorry guys :(

Looks good too!

Well hope this thread is still useful.

Have a good one!

The sad news for Sengoku Jidai is that due to issues with the AI, they do not plan a campaign. This is a real blow for me.

On the 'Stone Age' front...I actually considered it a while back. I thought I could take each of the competing 'sub species' of Man, Neanderthal, Cro Magnon etc. and pitch them against each other. I thought of Giant Elk cavalry, Wooly Rhino mounted shock troops, and clubs and stone axes swinging. The 'wardogs' would have been Smilodons....Never really got enough solid stuff together to make it worth starting as a mod. Not enough factions or units. There comes a point where the 'good idea' flush of energy dwindles, and if you don't have enough stuff down by then, give in ~;)

Damn... I just posted in their forum a few minutes ago. No SP aye? :(

Hi Bwian ! Some nice projects you have going there.

I don't know what particular AI issues they have come up against but surely there is a way?

Well, I am offering to help in anyway I can, which possibly isn't a lot computer wise atm, (but am gonna learn damn it lol!) , any team that will undertake a mod to do with STW to RTW format and focus on SP campaign play. I have collected several links to interesting bits of japanese medieval history info etc. Not wanting it to be historically accurate just something to play that's similar to STW maybe. Or just a fantasy type Medieval Japan total war. Keeping it simple.

The reason I am so interested in doing this is my love for the old Shogun board game when I was a kid. (anyone know where I can get a copy of that btw?)

Please note I haven't actually seen STW:WE yet as I'm awaiting delivery, but have played the demo of STW, which is just a tutorial. And also is a very stark contrast to RTW lol! I might add..

So, anyone who wants to give this a go has my support, limited as it is. I'll be your goffer this n' that guy. lol!

Just interested in maybe seeing some mods that are good, fun to play, and don't worry too much about historical accuracy. Historical content is good, but accuracy obviously drains a lot of time in making a mod I think from the numerous posts I've read so far.

So, who's up for it then? :)

It is indeed a shame that SJ won't have an SP campaign - its kinda what Rome is made for isn't it?

I like the idea of this thread, but can anyone post their ideas here?

Sure Soldier that was kind of my intention in the first place.

Post your ideas for mods :)

As a side note, I think it's gonna take me a while to get all the mod tools and tutorials. But I'm going to 'give it a fair go' as we say in Australia.
