Today, I finished training to become a Pupil Councillor, and shall take up my seat on the newly-established Senior Council a week on Tuesday. We had to make the Constitution of the Council during training, which was rather fun.

It shall consist of 3 Councils. the S1 & S2 Pupil Council, the S3 & S4 Pupil Council, and the Senior Council (of S5 and S6). Each Council shall have a chairman, and vice-chair (who is also secretary of publicity), secretary of the Council, and a treasurer, who shall be elected from the 14-16 Councillors.

It shall have remit over all aspects of running and life of the school, except staffing (although it is expected that the Senior Council shall have the opportunity to interview prospective teachers). We are getting a budget to spend on whatever we may wish, or to embezzle funds from...

The Senior Council shall first propose a new common room for S6 (although I am S5, the room shall not be ready by S6) to the Councils, and shall later depose the Rector, and declare Harris Academy independent.

Lucky you, our school is firmly autocratic. The Prefects (headmasters of the different sections really) rule supreme. They even have a quasi police force (Disciplinary Prefects) who are allowed to act as judge, jury and executioner.

If you ask me it's silly to give students any real power over consequential decisions. They'll be out in a few short years-- they've got no accountability.
