Followed the link to your TW-forum but couldn´t find a pic of the strat.map anywhere. Would be nice to see what map/ provinces you´re using. Links?
One of the picture has a view of the map if you look, its stock vanilla but more provinces in the east and north.

Noob question alert
If I d/l 4.0 will i still be able to play my saved games from the last edition, I guess no but pray yes :help:
I read the readme for this mod and it sounds interesting. I wonder if any members who have played it (in an earlier version) can offer opinions on it? The only mod I've tried is RTR. SPQR sounds as if it has stuck closer to vanilla RTR in terms of units, but has some sensible sounding tweaks to gameplay.
PS: I hope this thread does not get moved to one of the modding forums, as they seem to be more for modders while this is a more general interest thread for players.
Hi,
I eventually managed to download SPQR 4.0 yesterday night and I can say it was well worth the effort. The units are simply stunning, the music, well, rousing to say the least, and the campaign is great to play, especially on the huge unit setting.
I've tried a couple of other mods, mainly RTR 5.4.1 Custom Edition, Mundus Magnus, and I can say that this is very enjoyable and well worth playing.
Roll on BI XP, EB, Megus Alexandros, Zhanguo (The Warring States) Total War, Napoleonic: Total War 2, Punic Total War and a few others… ~:)
Simon I think you'll like the mod, there is enough realism in it for people that dont want wardogs and druids, but enough focus on the gameplay to make that the main focus of the mod.
I think RTR is for the hardcore realism fans, but most of us arent hardcore realism people. I too like realism, but still like to see my Legions with the standard look. of course my mod ends in 220AD :-)
Overall when you play SPQR you will see how I like to play, I personally think no diplomats opens a whole NEW gameplay experience for the better, as the AI in RTW cannot and probably will never use this feature correctly or even well. It becomes more of exploiting and bribing the AI for the player. I tend to want to place the focus on desperate battles where no peace is possible except slavery or destruction. I mean Cato said Carthage must be Destroyed. lol These were not times of peace and since Rome wasnt known for its peace I focused on Total War.
Give it a try if you dont like it, you can always play other mods. We have variety. :-)

A small addon is available that Adds the custom buttons to the campaign map. it also addresses a couple small bugs with city view etc.
It can be downloaded in the same place as SPQR 4.0. There are NO CTD issues with the version 4.0 so this patch / addon is for looks more than a fix.

sorry to report I have just experienced a CTD in 4.0
Just had a successful battle slaughtering rebels, then moved my army back to pela, returned a scouting cavalry unit from dacian terratory back to byzalore (?, the city furthest north west from macedon) and then CTD :help:
