View Full Version : Making A General Immortal to Time?
Is there anyway that the game files can be modded for a specific General, such as a starting out General from the start of a new Campaign, so that he will never die, & live on to rule his empire?
Or is it simply, around 128 years old is the maximum possibility, by whenever the general dies, opening the last game save file, so he lives again, etc etc.?
I wouldnt mind seeing what traits a General who never dies, who is ruling the faction would get! Any ideas as to if this is possible to make them immortal?
And no, I do not men invulnerable, as to where they cannot be killed in battle, for he'll never fight in battle, at least hand to hand, prehaps in some battles with a full stack military behind him, & only a few hundred peasant rebels to slaughter, just for his amusement, etc.

Well I know that generals go through a series of 'checks' after they reach a certain age. If you could find where the terms of these checks are defined, then you should be able to either turn them off, or make them not start until age 125 (which your general would never reach anyway)
If anyone knows where the paramiters for the checks are or any other way to make 'immortal' generals, please post because I would love to have one or 2 of these guys too...
Well it would be a fun change in the game now, since we've been playing for so long, & Barbarian Invasion is not yet out, we can try one last quick campaign with this, a leader who never dies, at least not from a "natural" death.
As long as you support him only in battles that you "know" that you can positivly win, he'll get more & more traits.
I'm curious to see how many & what kinds of traits that he would get!
So as he stated above, anyone else know what to do?
Start him out as 128 years old so as soon as you hit end turn he will be zero years old. he'll at least last you 57 years as I think 56 years old is when a general can have a natural death (rare) and start to become common at 60 years old.
A good idea, but not what I am looking for.
I want a General that will "never die of natural causes", if possible. The main question is, is it possible, has it been tried/looked into?, & if it is possible, how do we achieve it to try it out for something different?
Furthermore, is there anyway to get a General named to yourself, such as for me, Aaron of Sparta? I tried it earlier, but the game crashed, etc. I also tried giving a starting out General higher Commander, Leadership, Management, etc, but it wouldnt show it when the game started, any ideas for that as well?

Agreed.
Although I wouldn't really want to see the treacherous generals in Barbarian Invasion live forever.
I am not in a hurry to end up like Gallienus, or Claudius Gothicus.
So no one here has the vaguest idea as to how or if its possible to modifiy anyone of your starting Generals so they never die from a natural death, i.e., age?
Now given, ensure that they do not catch the plague, & ensure that they are never lost in combat, only send them out with a full stack of your latest troops against a much weaker opposition force, to ensure his survival. (that is if anyone can figure this out!)

oaty's suggestion looked good to me. In my experimenting, I was never able to affect a general's age through traits, or even accurately determine it, in cases where he was adopted or married into the family.
Unfortunately I don't believe that you can start a general out at 127 years of age (0-127.) I tried at it seems that the game will only take a 2 digit age in the desc_strat.txt file. 3 digit age causes the file to fail to load. ~:handball:

^^
ouch...
Don't the generals go through a series of 'checks' each turn that gets consecutivly higher in percentage as he gets older. Couldn't you just turn if off, or delete the line?
I would if I knew were it was.
Anyone know by chance?

That's actually coded into the game, we believe. I know it isn't in the traits file. ~;)
Maybe try starting the general's age at 99 if it won't take a 3-digit number, then. 60-something year old generals seem to die off quicker than 90+ aged generals.

there was a cheat for it wasnt it
Not that I know of.
There was a cheat for making your general invincible in battle (though I could never get it to work! [I wanted my own personal Achilles for the Greeks]).
But making a General that will never die of natural causes, is still a mystery.
Kind of off-topic, but not at the same time:
If I wanted to have just one unit for myself, that only I could recruit, say I modify the Armoured Hoplites, & I only recruit one unit of them.
What is the highest tested attack, defense, & hit points possible?
I know that some people have tried this before, & told me that their units when modded to have 100 attack, etc, had no attack at all, so what is the maximum height for attack, defense, & hitpoints?
I really dont want the attack part, I dont want the one unit to just massacre a 3,000-4,000 opposition army, but I would like to make them as powerful as can be in defense & hit points, at least very strong, have some fun in the Campaign with my version of Achilles & his Myrmidons reborn (and I do not mean the skins, I dont want that).
I know how to do mod this, etc, I've done it before; the question here is, what is the maximum number of defense & hit points, before they become obsolete?

I prefer my Generals, good or bad, to pass away. I like the family tree that RTW introduced but would like to see more information, like the achievements of dead members as a display rather than just the date that they died
.......Orda
Yea & that's nice, but not the topic here.
The idea here is, for a one campaign game change, something different aside of the same old start out, & conquer, but to have the chance to build a character to the ultimate.
No one said he has to live forever. Once you get tired of the General, you could just simply send him into battle all alone, & kill him off.

Oh, I'm definitely with you, there Orda Khan. I wish we could display the traits of dead generals by clicking on their portraits, because they are still retained by the game after they die. But at least it is technically possible to have their descendants carry their achievements down through the generations.

Highest attack is 63 I believe, not sure about defense but iirc it is higher than that.
iirc?
What exactly is that?
