Basically I am a complete (utterly) novice of both debating and the topic I've been given from my debating (we called it "Forensics" here, though it has nothing to do with Forensics science) class, so I'm asking for the help of the knowledgable Backroommers about this. My topic says "The Restriction of rights from Immigrants are consistent with democratic ideals." I do stress the point that this immigrant rights includes legal immigrants in the United States, and that I'll be glad to view the issue from all angles (my position has yet to be decided) and any info, especially links, will be greatly appreciated. Of course, you are free to debate about the issue (it's not exactly a present issue, though - illegal immigration is far more of a "hot" issue around here) yourself here if you want; though my purpose is to gather some information. Well, when I googled immigrations I came up with porn sites! :dizzy2:

Thank you in advance for all.

Thank you, Gelatinous Cube. To clarify, I was looking about the positive and negative aspects of all, though stressing legal (since it will affect legal immigrants, as well, and saying immigrants blandly only brings to mind the image of illegal flood of humans...) immigration on today's USA, since the info will be a base of my case. On the other hand, the topic itself claims (for the affirmative case) that the restrictions on immigrant rights (as a whole) is consistent with the democratic ideals. These restrictions, of course, are still in place. Some are considered basic common sense like no voting until becoming citizens, others are more complicated. I already managed to gather some basic history of immigration in the US from wikipedia, but the issue itself seems more obscure, and much harder to find.
