I understand that this is for a good cause......but it just seems cruel and unusual. ~D

For the love of God...make it stop!! (http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2005/09/13/earlyshow/main838253.shtml)

P.S.-i posted this here because it relates to the Katrina story and all those posts are back here....if any mod feels it better suits the frontroom.....move it.

How about the government use its trillions to aid those people instead of having normal people pay. I thought that's why citizens still paid taxes!

I think if they really wanted to be cruel they would play the theme song from that frog thing, or the them song from zombo.com. Now that would be bad. Trully bad.

I think the aftermath of Katrina is exactly why capitalism is completely flawed. If something like this hapens in a theoretical perfect capitalis system then none of us should care, because they didn't have enough incentive to make more money.

Jezus christ, smiley attack!
Excellent idea; perhaps we can try playing it to national governments until they actually do something really useful to aid those in poverty?

Excellent idea; perhaps we can try playing it to national governments until they actually do something really useful to aid those in poverty?I'm sorry, I see I overdid the smileys a bit. No offence or bandwidth trouble, I hope. By the way, what do you propose we play in Holland? The 'Bird dance'? The 'Smurfen'?

*turns away, vomits on unsuspecting passerby*

'Smurfenhouse' sounds good. Perhaps a little 'Schnappi' or 'Watskeburt' thrown in for good measure?
Oh, no problem with the smileys. Just a bit of a shock to see those little devils frolicking at the bottom of the page. ~:)

I'm not certain, but I believe it was this punishment that the internees at Gitmo objected to most.

Fun with colors BP...? ~D

Its not cool to force people into "charity" by torturing them.

Smurfenhouse? Are they related to Smurfs?

So...

You fell no compunction to help those hurt by Katrina...

Because you pay taxes.

That attitude is more of an argument against taxation than for the government spending trillions...

Because honest charity given by people is always better then government tax dollars

Your understanding of capitalism is completely flawed would be my answer. Capitalism does not equate to not caring about people when a diaster happens.

Charity is very important, and good. That is not to say the government should not help people, but normal people helping each other is always better (assuming you can trust the people you're giving your money too).
