View Full Version : F.E.A.R demo
Just got the new PC Gamer and installed the FEAR demo. Holy smackers that's one intense game. Wild firefights, great effetcs and some seriously creepy chills. It's Rainbow Six meets Doom meets The Shinning.
Had to play it at 800x600 on my AMD64-3000/512/9800Pro or else it was too slow. Still looks great though. It must look amazing at 1600x1200 but you'd need some crazy AMD FX-57 with twin nVidia 7800s to do that. T'would be nice though.
I think I'll get it.

Looking forward to it; only thing I'm worried about is the usual ridiculously system intensive engine by Monolith.

I got it yesterday as well, though I couldn't play it at full settings (my system is starting to feel it's age, though it is still young :embarassed: ). It was great! I just wish I had not been too stingy to use the plasma gun, I always save the big guns for a firefight that never comes....
I'll also probably buy it soon, the effects coming off of the 10mm penetrator's shots and the amount of destruction caused by the shotgun are nearly enough to warrant the purhcase!

Is it scary?
Even in the demo there are a few pretty good moments.
I had to play with the volume way down because the kids were in the next room. Play this with the lights off at night and the volume up and I'll bet it's much, much better.

There were a couple of moments that made me jump, but once I defeated that first powered armor and took it's 10mm gun, hehehe, well I wasn't very jumpy anymore. Even at the very end, I just cooly backed away crouching to get a slight breather so I could get out that wonderful plasma gun that I never actually fired. People who finished the demo know what I'm talking about, I think.

Bstards, I've downloaded the demo from two sources now, one being their site, and still it won't work, when I open it, the program takes me to their pre-order page. How do I fix this?
