I for one am very interested in getting the next installment, RTW BI.
I know that it is coming out around the 27th and I am wondering if a preorder from say, EB Games - $29, would be a smart idea? Or is it the experience of most that stores get the game on the release date or thereabouts. The preorder would be 5 days or so.. Is the 29 dollars a price advantage over the store release price?

Terry

A friend of mine preordered the Harry Potter book and got it a week after I did...

I am also very excited about getting the BI expansion. ~:)

However from past experience I would recommend you buy it on it's day of release. I have learnt to do this as I said from past experience, that'd be best in my opinion.

Just make sure your first in the que ~

Terry[1], it all depends on how desperate you are to play a game.

With games I've been really anticipating, I generally regret pre-ordering as you do risk waiting.

But if you are more relaxed, the pre-order price is usually a discount - websites like Amazon will tell you how big the discount is.

I rushed out to buy RTW at 9am of the day of release in the store, but have pre-ordered BI as I can wait (and may even be lucky enough to be playing the EB mod around that time). And the cost saving makes me feel less guilty about pre-ordering Oblivion at the same time.

[1]PS: Good location, BTW.

I just like the thought of having it in my hands at 4 in the afternoon (i.e. after school, my parents would kill me if I was caught bunking of school for a mere game)

Hehe, be more concerned about doing no homework when BI comes out ~D

This is how I'll be pre-ordering, by using Amazon and putting-up with the few days shipment and delivery. Did exactly the same for Rome: Total War. Can't be bothered to pick it up from the shops - they usually run out of stock in the first few days/weeks of sale anyway :wall: And as Simon Appleton says, you don't pay the mark-up price of high-street retailers, thus saving a bit, although you do have to pay postage + packaging + potential shipping costs.

The only thing I like about pre-ordering is the free gifts you tend to get when you do pre-order. e.g. Keyring, T-Shirt, Pen. ~D

Well I got RTW as a Valentine gift... I guess I will have to wait awhile for another occasion before I get RTW:BI.

Pre-ordered a few days ago, its supposed to be dispatched today so that it arrives on the day of release. Whether it does or not is another story... ~D

Friend of mine bought it for £20 earlier, straight out of the shop. Not too bad, I'm getting my copy from that shop.

Thanks to pre-ordering I got my copy 2 days before the actual release.

Payed 249 NOK for it btw.

I really think it depends on the game/expansion you're buying. If you're buying Halo2, then you will want to pre-order because even if you go at midnight (like me) you are not guaranteed a copy.

With this expansion though, I think not that many people are interested in this sort of genre, and I think out of those people not many have the game to...expand on.

Now, if you want to save money and you can wait, than go with pre-order, if not than I'm sure you will not have difficulty finding it in a store.

Either way good luck!~:)

O pre-odered my copy of Bi from play.com and got it a day earlier than the actual release, hence pre odering is the best.

I ordered from Amazon on the 29th, it arrived on the 30th which is the release date. Whats the big deal about pre ordering? Only £14.99 too.

Also the bonus with pre-odering is that you can sit on your arse and let it come to your dorrstep, instead of getting up and taking that long walk to the shops ~D

Yes, let's be anti-social and sit inside all day
The walk to the shops is also a bit of exercise.

I pre-ordered BI on September 11 and my copy shipped last night.
Not sure if pre-ordering is the best way to get your copy faster.
Might have to be related to me living in Belgium of course. Not that I care that much... I'll have plenty of time to play BI so the two weeks delay won't make any difference.
