View Full Version : Exodus in EB?

Hi, in RTR6.0 I emigrated with the Illiryans from the balkans to Great Britain all the way through the med sea by boat, I managed to conquer a city there, made it my capital then destroyed every building in my original cities, raised tax to max and left them ungarrisoned. Greek and Macedonians took their opportunity and occuppied all my land and my second fleet was eventually destroyed in the med leaving only one branch of my family tree to continue the Illiryan dinasty.

After a few decades I conquered all of Great Britain and Hibernia and I'm now a viking-raider on reverse and quite a few centuries earlier raiding the Macedonian Scandinavia and the Roman Gallia with my weak light army.

Did anyone in EB tried to make an Exodus? Is there anything in EB that might hamper it? Or make it even more fun?

:charge:

you must have a lot of time on your hands ~;)

but afaik, in EB, recruiting is done per province...little vague.example: the Ptolemaics(egypt) can't recruit Pezhetairoi (pikemen) in britain.
most of your original forces can only be recruited 'around your homeland'

so an exodus might be possible..but very hard. and with a limited troop-selection.

Yeah, and you'll be restricted too in the government types you choose, which will put you at a big disadvantage from the start. But it still could be done. It's hard enough keeping up an army to fight off your neighbors from your first province--I don't even want to think of being able to financially arm an army strong enough to make it to Britain or somewhere up there and actually take a province away from some multiple-turn-strengthened rebels. But it could be an interesting challenge. ~

Thanks for the replies.

It seems in EB it's going to be very, very challenging, which adds to the fun of course, it's a trade off, loose your best "national" units for an even greater challenge. No silver shields growing in Hibernia.

well, you could try the opposite..

play as arche seleukia. and let your empire shrink down to your main capital(with most recruiting resources), make sure you move your entire army force there. might be fun to watch the enemy conquer it all..

I tried something similar with Pontus, I expanded very little and played defensive for decades untill finally the Seleucids brought down their hammer of doom on me and stack after stack after stack fought me to the last soldier.

I guess in BI this is what's probably going to happen to the western Romans, if the AI has any competence and you don't make any smart moves it should be an "Alamo" campaign where you have to shuffle armies around the world to try to keep your land and eventually retreat to Italy to avoid a sack of Rome. I hope this isn't only wishfull thinking.

RTW can be fun both in victory and in defeat, I sure had plenty of fun last time I lost as Germania in RTR6.0, I did put up a good fight, I over-extended myself and I suffered from my own mistakes, but I went down fighting, if only Germans could build stone walls...

Yes, I moved to Britain with Carthage. I was in debt of over -20,000 denarii, and I only had 130 men left distributed over 3 settlements. it was fun for a bit, but then it just became boring.

You're all mad! MAD, I tell you. You're all a bunch of whackaloons! Migrating to Britain is impossible in RTR 6! It can't be done! *breaks down in a blubbering mess*

It takes a ton of bribery to manage. I ended being so mad at having two full stacks annihilated by the many, many troops sitting around in Britain that I became very determined to conquer the Island. Two full stacks per province...yuck.

yeah.. i'm never in the mood to fight out full-stacked armies in a small-settlement.
too many men, too little tactics, no honour to be gained~;)

I once went to byzantium as parthia in RTR 5.4, i took it and the macedonians sent army after army, i couldn't recruit new troops, all i had was a load of auxiliary troops that i started with, i must have defeated about 7 full enemy armys when the dacians joined in, sending their own troops to attack Byzantium. I fought army after army of enemy, my army ended up mega elite, but every battle i lost a few more men, i finally ran out of troops i only had one unit left. (then finally i finished a stables and was able to build reinforcements).

That's outstanding BM, what a great adventure and display of resilience, the King of Parthia, or actually, Byzanthia, will be remembered for generations to come as the brave fearless leader of the immortal Parthian Army, who ventured West through the highest mountains, the hottest deserts and the violent seas, slaying 8-head serpents, 3-eyed dragons and finally defeating the mighty army of the heirs of Alexander.

There is no higher honor on this Earth than to have Parthian blood flowing through your veins.

that's indeed fun stuff.

in 5,4 the greeks get byzantium form the start, cut of from military supply (macedon) and under fire form macedon, Thrace and Dacia..fun place to be. Can't imagine how hard it would be with Parthia..

i just tried my best to keep my horse archers out of combat, the infantry armys of the Dacians weren't too bad because their cavalry is really vulnerable to missiles, the Macedonians though have a lot more cavalry, i had to try and wipe them out before they charged me.
