Uh, can any our pharmaceutically knowledgeable backroomers tell me what are the symptoms you'll experience if you take too much Sudafed (an over the counter version of pseudoephedrine). I have a really bad sinus infection and decided to take some last night. We didn't have the box, so my wife said to take 2. Well, my pulse is racing, I only slept for 1/2 the night and I feel like I drank 18 cups of coffee. Is that normal, and will I be okay with just lots of water and time?

Umm, if you google "sudafed overdose" the sites do suggest seeking medical attention. If it was an OD. Probably just afraid of being sued, but...

Standard sudafed? If so, 2 is not an overly large dose for a typical adult male. Please note, If you are the type of person who finds a cup or two (not 12) of caffeinated coffee to be calming (not uncommon if you were a bit HD as a child), then you are prone to experience reversed polarity responses from some depressants. The ephedrine depressant effect then becomes a caffeine-like high.
Water and time will be your best bet, unless symptoms worsen (that's physician time).

Yeah, I started doing some research on it. I took 240mg. They say to only take 120mg in a 12 hour period, and no more than 240mg in a 24 hour period. It was the 2nd time limit that had all the strictures, so other than high anxiety all day, I think I'm okay. Folks, if I come off as a little edgy, please understand why.

Did it at least clear your sinus infection? ~:)
@ Don - Advil Cold & Sinus works wonders when you have sinus problem.
Sometimes I take it even when I'm not really sick, make sure to get the
'non-drowsy' or 'daytime' versions.

Actually, my sinuses are still a little stuffed, but my God are my nostrils irritated. Dry and senstive as all hell. You'd think by this age in my life, I'd be above such foolish ventures as taking unknown dosages of drugs I'm unfamiliar with... but nope. :joker:

Well you can always do what I do for my sinus headaches. And its absolutely free for me to do since I live in Texas. Go up into the attic of my house - you know that empty space of your house with no aircondition. And just sit in it for about 20 minutes in the 95+ sunny weather of a Texas summer and early fall. Along with the 80% humidity - I have my own built in sauna that is absolutely free.
Sweat off the pounds plus the head colds quickly.

You know, anyone with access to Korean cuisine has the ultimate decongestant at their disposal. Not sure what the recommended dosage of Kimchi is, but it can't be very much.
