This mod has all of the official factions in it including the Burgundians, Swiss and Horde. It is set late in the High period, and has far too many changes to list. I used an Historical map in making it, but foremost in my mind was to create a challenging game (for any faction), now taking and holding neutral provinces is a bit (sometimes a LOT) harder. I think it results in a more challenging, realistic game with stategy and politics being more import, as opposed to conquering everything in sight.

OK I just made up a temporary site (30 day free trial). Its a bit spartan but it does the job.

Full Description:

This mod (well I should say map file as I havent actually created any new graphics or units, etc) has all of the official factions in it, this includes the Burgundians and Swiss, and also Aragon, Sicily, Hungary, the Golden Horde, etc. It was designed using historically correct maps, however where gameplay and accuracy clashed, I went with gameplay.

More of a political, strategic game is to be had with this mod, with more rebellions and tougher unowned neutral nations it is no longer a simple matter of conqering everything in sight, most nations are much more difficult and it is no longer necessary to play on Expert every game, Hard should be sufficient for most nations.

The motivation behind designing it was that I found it annoying that within the first several turns every nation went on a land grab and the passive AI nations just let anyone march right in with nominal resistance and rebellions where pretty much non-existent.
The reality was that independent city states where much more autonomous. By 1275, weak Emperors of The Holy Roman Empire (Germany) saw much of it disintegrate into such city states. The map reflects this and the inclusion of active Switzerland and Burgundy in Western Europe helps create this dynamic, such that a agressive European nation might find itself the target of Crusades for waging war and fellow Catholics.
I have also divided the original games nation of Italy, into more realistic city states, with Italy based in Genoa, and Aragon and Sicily controlling some of the others while the remainder are neutral.

Be aware that Glorious Victory goals may change over time.

It is possible to play as Burgundy (very difficult) or the Swiss (better left as a neutral though as it has hardcoded specific events), or Aragon, Hungary, etc by editing the .txt file and changing them from Minor to Major factions. However Glorious Victory will not be possible when playing as these nations.

what about the Byzantines?

Oh yes the Byzantines are in it along with all of the other factions, its just that they dont receive any extra hardcoded Glorius victory conditions besides the standard "Conquest" and "Homelands". Also I have not really significantly changed the Byzantines from the Official version.

Does anyone know when/why Glorious victory conditions change, is it set years, or what?

Just updated the site with a link to the full sized version of the map picture, I also have ones of 1100 AD and 1200 AD. I cant remember the site were I got these from, I will have a look and post it soon.
Also I have updated the mod .zip file with a new version, which has made Spain a little less powerful and made crusades occur less often, as with the old version the relatively crowded European nations would keep crusading each other. So if you downloaded the other one, please replace it with this.

After futher testing with several nations and 50+ turns I have noticed that the Glorious victory conditions change regularly for each nation (from a pool of 2 or 3 each). Hope you enjoy the mod.

Good work! I'm having a lot of fun playing England. So far, it's been tough and realistic -- conquest is much more difficult. And the addition of Burgundy is great -- it never should have been left out in the first palce.

But don't the minor factions when converted to major ones have no glorious achievments?
