How superstitious are you guys?!

I tend to believe ghost stories, and other things.I am totally immune. Walking underneath ladders, Friday the 13th, black cats, spilling salt or breaking mirrors, none of it bothers me at all.

I tease superstitious people whenever I can.. :sneaky:

Superstitious I am not, but...
In fact, I do not believe in almost at all, but on the other hand I know (?) a ghost, he (?) lives (?) in the place where I work, the only way of seeing him(?) is with the peripheral vision. And yes, I know that can be my mind playing dirty tricks, but there are other things, like computers, furniture, books, papers, boxes, shoes... moving by it-themselves.

Never gave it any thought, don't believe in all the walking under ladders/broken mirrors stuff though.

Although I don't like getting my photo taken as it steals your soul ~ :eeeek: :scared:  and it really bugs the wife when we're on holiday. Apart from our wedding pics, that even I couldn't get out of and I do damn fine in my kilt ~ , there are only 5 or 6 pictures of me in the past 8 years or so.

Superstition brings bad luck!

I love this phrase, I think its mentioned in an Eco book...

Anyway, besides the fact that I as well dont like my picture taken for some obscure reason that I dont know anymore, I am not superstitious...I think...

One reason for my fear of photos is because you never know where they go.

I probably wouldn't call myself superstitious....
It's me and the entire population of the isle of man.
Y'see when you go over this bridge, aptly named fairy bridge, you HAVE to say hello to the fairies otherwise something bad will happen. It's incredibly surprising how many people do it (including myself).
So there you are! You learn something new everyday.

Nope not superstitious at all.

There are some weird things that occur but mostly its just coincidence of a chain of small events

I am not superstitious when it comes to 13, black cats, all that nonsense. But I do believe in ghosts. I am pretty sure that there is one in my home- I always hear wierd noises at night- someone walking down the stairs, then just stopping, and such. There is also a wierd cold spot in my room that just moves around at random- it's kind of annoying, but I have decided not to antagonise it, having heard how that went over for that one family in Amnityville. (Granted, that was a demon- and a freaky one- but the concept remains the same: don't **** where you eat/sleep.)

Kinda. The usuals (ladders, mirrors and the like) are rubbish, imo. But I do believe in fate.

That`s not even a question for me. Ghosts may sometimes sound convincing, but I think local changes in the magnetic field can explain most of them.

Drugs'll do that to ya.
:brood:

Actually, that thing has been around a lot longer than I have been getting high... so, unles my bloodstream produces a mild hallucinogen, I think it's real. Of course, I'm not ruling out the hallucinogen theory.

Also, I think the elevator that skips 13 and 14 is a mistake. That, or someone is REALLY superstitious.

How superstitious are you guys?!

I tend to believe ghost stories, and other things.
If you ask my brain then you'll see a 0 coming out of my head.
But if you ask my "heart"...everyone tends to beleive some social stupidity or the other...For example I'm very afraid of the dark, when I'm inside my house for example, but just sometimes other times not. It depends on sensibility i think.

QUOTE] So in your country they really beleive this huh?~D I thought it was a legend ~ .
On the other side, here you'll not see any of that, and we're an industrialized country...Are we?~ Well we had industries in the past.~D

I think not walking under ladders is just common sense. Think about it-- why is the ladder up there?

Answer-- because some one is on it, doing work! What if something were to fall on your head?? What excuse would you use??? "Well, duh, you see I was just walking under it to prove that superstitious people are stupid, uhhh..."

So I don't walk under ladders. I actually don't walk under scaffoldings either, if there's a good alternative.

I'm not superstitious, really, but I'm quite firm in some of my spritual practices, one could say. I do, though, feel better in the fall. More confident, more lively, more in tune with the self. This has been linked to chemicals and hormones, though...but then, maybe it's a placebo.

Macbeth! ~D

One day a visitor to Niels Bohr's country cottage noticed a horseshoe hanging on a wall and teased the eminent physicist about his apparent superstition. "Can it be," he asked, "that you, of all people, believe it will bring you luck?" "Of course not," Bohr replied, "but I understand it brings you luck whether you believe it or not."
I sometimes find myself thinking about Murphy's laws, but I don't really believe in any such thing. I know what the real mechanics behind the experiences are. ("event darwinism")

I used to be Superstitious, when I was a kid, when our furnace in the basement would kick on and make a really loud crash into the door next to our living room. used to Scare the bejeezus oughta me. Until my older brother decided to give our ghost it's namesake "Jim the Gay San Franciscan Ghost". I was never scared again :laugh4:
