4-5 -nothing special

6-7 -average

8 - good

9-10 - excellent!!!

I gave it a 10.
Really been enjoying myself so far.
Started my first game as the goths and was living the good life.
Then the vandal horde came to my lands and seiged my capital and just when they were about to attack, the hun came.
The vandals broke off the seige and fought the huns instead and got defeated.
So the huns attacked me and took all my settlements and now I'm down to 4 stacks of horde troops.
So exciting ~

Pro:
Better AI
The new religion feature.
Horde
I kinda like the skins, gives the game a gritty feeling.
Huge battles(especially against horde armies).
Not any major bugs so far.
Berserkers

Cons:

Huge battles, sure this is fun and run better then on RTW but it still lags a bit.
No new voices
No faction videos.

I havent played much yet but so far it feels very good. Of course one big difference is now I know what to expect from this game so I modded speed down even before I started a campaign. Right now the game feels more of a challenge than RTW, at least the campaign aspect and hordes, religion and rebelling factions seems to be great additions.

Hehehe ~D

Thumbs up for Tosa. ~D

I'd give it a 10 so far, though I heard that the skins aren't very impressive.

Hey, it's a small thing, but I like having the Viking victory music back from M:TW. It plays for the Huns.

I like the Arab Victory very very much. From MTW VI.

religion and rebelling factions seems to be great additions.

Maybe the MTW development team got to work on BI.

Maybe not the right thread for this (hijack alert!) but please can you let me know how you did this?

You mean reduce movement? Find the file descr_battle_map_movement_modifiers in Activision\Rome - Total War\Data. There you can reduce overall movement for different types of terrain. In my case I lowered all to 70% of the original values. But I might try 60 or 65% later on to see if that feels better for me.

Edit: this file actually belongs to the RTW part of the folders but it effect both RTW and BI.

Thanks CBR! In finest Columbo fashion, there's just one more thing... did you also lower the combat speed, or have the increased defence values slowed down combat enough already?

Ahem. Back on topic - I'm looking forward to giving BI a nice high rating when I get my grubby mits on it tomorrow!

Well I havent played that many battles yet but so far I wouldnt say kill rate is that bad. Units (at least the ones I have) have nice defense.

I agree, in the few battles I have fought, I don't think the combat speed will need a slowdown.

I'll rate it tomorrow when I get it.

I'll rate it tomorrow when I get it.

Isn't rating it the day you purchase it rather presumptious? Not so long ago I remember thinking RTW was amazing for the first two weeks after purchase....

~;)

Ah yes, well, some kind soul will post a new poll in a few weeks I'm sure!

It's like waiting for a bus - no polls for ages and then three will turn up as once!

Off topic yet again - thanks for the info CBR and Sol!

Of course, but Im gonna get it anyway, and first impressions always count, despite what everyone says.

I gave it an 8, by the way. After a week that should improve. ~

My first impulse was 10, but then I realized that it just felt like 10 because it fixed stuff that was supposed to have been fixed from the first release.

All in all it is a superb play for me right now, so I gave it a conservative 8 in case I might get bored too fast or that it might get even better.

I rate BI 8.
I think they could have polished it a bit more, among other things.

I think I'm edging towards a buy here!
It's getting favourable reviews from a lot of the right people.
Even Intrepid Sidekick likes it ~D

I give it a 7. It feels really better than RTW. It almost looks like MTW. Too bad there are still a lot of bugs around

I gave this an 8.

Its a good expansion. It cannot solve all the inherant problems with RTW, but it is a damn good improvement.
