Playing as the Brutii, i've managed to start the civil war, and i swiftly took over Italy and have started moving into Europe, to defeat the Julii. a few turns before i had told one of my main armies to attack a large 800 man Julii army South-East of Mogontiacum, so once i pressed the End-Turn button, they went there and started the battle. I quite cleanly won (20 losses 800 kills), but right after that i was attacked by a 1000 man army (another victory) and then another, which i also won! In all, i had 3 battles before the turn had even begun properly, all in the exact same place. So, has anyone else had a large number of battles which were all great victories all in a row?

Beat you. 4. I was as the Julii in 196BC against the Brutii.

I attacked Thermon in Greece(I had Athens, Corinth and Sparta), controlled by a full stack Brutii army with Large Stone Walls. Plus, a half stack also. I attacked it with 2 full stacks.

4 battles. The first one, I won it with high casualties. Lost about 1200 men, Brutii about 1500. The half stack attacked me. Open field fight.

The following 3, different. They brought 3 full stacks. They attacked me. I lost it. They surrounded me(I was very surprised of the AI). I couldn't go nowhere. Again, the following was lost. For the final, I only had about 200 Triarii with 30 Roman Archers. Destroyed completely.

But, I was very surprised of the AI to surround me. It was VH/H.

I only won all 3 battles because of the fact that i had the superior army. 4 Praetorian Cav, 4 Praetorian Cohorts, 8 Legionary Cohorts, 2 Archer Auxilia and 2 Heavy Onager, with silver armour and weapons and 3 bronze Chevrons. In all the battles put together, i only lost about 80 men, while killing 2600 Julii. They are now besieging Mogontiacum, while my army in Massilia is waiting for re-inforcements before it can start moving again.

I had a full stack of Triarii, and the other one was composed of Roman Archers, 2 units of Equites, no general....

I had the Marian Reforms, but I hadn't had time to refresh all of my armies.

i had 6 units..i was teh greeks in RTR 5.4..
Italy, south of Rome.
i had 3 hoplites, 1 greek-cav and 1 cretan archers..out of teh blue 10 units show up, i win at a high-ground..cretans rocked..
second go, another win..heavy cretan losses...heavy cav losses..seems Romans had terrifyingly good cav~;)
third time wasn't a charm...wiht only hoplites..the defeat was inevitable..still the best units i ever spent..

I often have several battles in a row when I´m besieging cities and my opponent has units in close vincinity. They attack over and over again, with the side effect that they weaken the city defense, because the defense forces join the battle every time my siege army is attacked. I don´t mind - I don´t much like doing city battles, better to bury them outside the walls.

My first campaign as the Julii. When I triggered the civil war, Brutii had about 25 stacks in southern Italy.
I was able to prevent movement by blocking a pass with 2 stacks, so you could only attack with 2 stacks at a time, but he had most stacks within attacking range. After 4 manual battles I was fed up (lost a 10 star general thanks to the AI in the 3:rd) and auto-calculated one more victory and on the 6:th battle I lost. He had 18 stacks within attacking range that turn so it was 9 possible battles, atleast.

As the Julii, I won three big battles in a row south of Osca against the Spanish. My army was basically the same one I took when I left Italy (equites, velites, hastati), but supplied with Spanish, Barbarian and Balearic mercenaries to make up for casualties. It is wasn't a full stack, but they were battle hardened. The Spanish armies were larger than mine and had about the same make-up (round shields, scutari/fantatics/Iberians plus a few mercenaries and skirmishers), though less experienced.

I beat the first two armies while defending (the A.I. marched them against me one by one instead of teaming up like it should have done) and then advanced to destroy the third. All three battles were heroic victories for me and I gained two "famous battle markers". Perhaps I would have gained three if the first two hadn't been fought in the same place.

I don't consider this a testament to my skill, but to the sloppy A.I. that does not concentrate its armies, does not lead them by family members and seems to hesitate during the frontal assault.

I broke the back of Spanish resistance in the six or so battles around Osca. Within two decades, my small and undersupported army controlled all the major production centres on the peninsula, including Gaulish Numantia.

I once had 4 wins in a row against hte scipii during the civil war, I was playing the julii , back in the time when I was still playing vanilla RTW.
Anyway, I had a good al round army with basicly a bit of everytihng in it.

I sent the army from Sicily to assault Carthage, so I did , the next turn 4 full stacks attacked my one full stack ( all their stacks were captain led , mine too IIRC )
So I managed to win my first 2 battles easily, minor losses.
Then the 3rd battles was going to be easy- so I thought, but it became a chaotic battle instead - which I won but with far more losses than I wanted, by the time the forth and weakest stack entered the battle field my army was almost destroyed by the previous stack , and especialy depleted by the 3rd stack...
Only with a little luck ( enemy general died early ) did I manage to win that 4th battle, needless to say my assault on Carthage had to wait a bit , since the Scipii had some more full stacks roaming the Area, and my now battered army needed fresh supplies and some retraining.
