Froggy is sat at her usual corner table, scribbling away with her usual frenetic energy at a bit of parchment, ink spattering from her quill all over everything within a two foot radius. Occasionally she crosses something out with such violence it's a wonder her quill doesn't snap.

She is so engrossed she misses the announcement, and the ensuing congratulations, until someone taps her on the shoulder. She looks up and scowls that the fool, slowly reaching for one of her geisha FrogMod hairpins. As the pins are with the rest of her geisha outfit, piled neatly on a chair beside her, the action takes time, giving the patron chance to quickly babble something about Ludens and The Shadow One being announced as the new AMs.

"Oh," she says. She smiles at both of the new incumbents. "Congratulations. I'm sure you will do well." Froggy moves to scratch her cheek with her right hand, nearly stabbing herself in the face with her quill. "Oh, I should warn you both that if you damage any of my books," she gestures to a series of massive, teetering piles of books taller than the frog herself, "while cleaning, you will pay to replace them."

Without waiting for a reply froggy returns to her writing, ink once more showering over table, floor, and the off-duty frog in her medieval outfit herself.

Froggy drops her quill; it bounces twice and rolls off onto the floor. "Gah!" she exclaims. "GAH!" Now she is as close as a quiet frog can get to shouting. "Dust and cobwebs on my books!? NEVER! They are pristine, perfect, flawless, scrupulously clean, sparkling even, and you can't tell that they have even been opened, let alone read many times over! Perfect!"

She blinks a couple of times, and shuffles in her seat. Rather nervously reaches for a fresh quill, something unwelcome having occurred to her a little too late. "Er ... you were joking, maybe?" The quill isn't to her liking, so she carefully whittles it into better shape with a small penknife, managing to cut herself just the once for a change.

Froggy considers the prospect of it being teasing as she works, and by the time the quill is completed she has found something more to say. "Humph," she declares.

People being rather too much effort, she returns to writing. Without paying much attention to anything but her work, froggy tells the two new AMs, "You may, however, clean up the mess this ink leaves everywhere ..."

I'm at work, hiding in a corner so no one will see me accessing non-approved webpages, just sending a note of thanks to everyone for the congrats and beer. I spent the last four days in Chicago at another photoshoot, this one ranking somewhere between the third and fourth degree of Dantel's vision of hell.

Funny, every time I come back from these travels, my friends come over and tell me how much fun my job must be: traveling to new cities, working with models, actors and actresses, dining out on the company card, yada, yada, yada.

Then I think about this actress I worked with this week: beautiful, she was, but I've seen dead snails with a wider range of emotional response (and to top it off, she felt the need to tell me every aspect of her personal life -- she just broke up with a boyfriend, her baby had a cold, her parents were mad bcause she wasn't married). It was like a dental drill droning on and on in my ear.

I think about the food I ate -- why can't anyone get hot food at a photo or film shoot? It always arrives greasy and cold and the paper sticks to it. And since we shoot round the clock, there's no going out to eat.

Nor do I get to see the city. Recently, I spent almost 10 days in New York and got to go out once!

In the future I have Davenport, Boston, and New Jersey to look forward to. Fortunately, these are only short one or two-day trips.

So, thanks the congrats and especially for the beer. I needed that.

I am glad to hear you are taking care of that corner of the Mead Hall. I'll put down a floor-cover to catch the ink. And when you are done writing, I hope you'll join us for some ale.
