This is a weird one, and I'm hoping somebody will have a suggestion. After a few years of play, STW/MI no longer runs on my system. Clicking on any shortcut or running the exe file produces the same result: the initial logo screen runs, the disc spins for a couple seconds and then...nothing. Back to the desktop. I wish I could remember what system updates have been installed since the last successful run, but can't. There have been no hardware updates. MTW runs, the Rome demo runs. One other game did the same thing: Unreal; I don't know if that happened at the same time as the issue with STW/MI. I've never found a remedy for Unreal, either. Need I say...I love this game, and want it back. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. (XP Home, 2.4 GHz, 1 Gb RAM, nVidia G4 Ti4600, etc.)
Maybe the DirectX. ~It seems to be a common problem, or at least a few people have posted with the same problem. ~

YES!!! To anyone else having this problem, it has nothing to do with mov, mpg or compatibility options. Follow the link provided by drisos (above), scroll down to the link in the post that discusses STARFORCE, follow the instructions and return to Japan! Incidentally, the STARFORCE removal utility may be found at http://www.onlinesecurity-on.com/search.phtml?searchstring=starforce&search=+Find+&where=1&search=Find&art=.

Copy Protection... why am I not surprised. When will companies learn that copy protection schemes only hinder the legitimate user, and have no effect on the supposed pirates. The removal tool is very interesting to learn about.
~:) Good to see it's solved. Hope to see you in Sword Dojo soon~
btw welcome to the .org:bow:
