View Full Version : What is your favorite music genre? (YES, RIGHT NOW!!)
Ok, third attempt for this poll...
You can only add a poll to a thread within 5 minutes of posting the thread. I have 26 options....
The second "Worldbeat (eg. Fela Kuti, Chieftains etc.)" should have been "Other ( specify) "
Moving around the text doesn't appear to work in the fields, since I made a mistake in order, hence the double selection.

Try changing your forum theme to Guild if different and attempt once more. The new structure still has some minor porblems, I think. You may try consulting the mods too..

So the poll is up and running..
My vote goes to Modern Rock. Franz Ferdinand, RHCP, Offspring, Muse, U2, REM, Kent, Wallflowers and all alike..
However I have to state my love for the oldies and would like to vote for classical pop and jazz as well..

Classic Rock, but Rammstein and Megaherz pwn also.
I'm a metalhead. Not that I don't listen to other music, but metal is primo. I'm curious as to why Crust or Grind didn't make the list, though.

Rock. Mainly Classic Rock, but I'm getting into some new bands like My Morning Jacket, Drive by Truckers and Widespread Panic too.
And I also like Blues, bluegrass, folk and other roots music.

Great poll though, I would group Rammstein and Korn with metal and industrial. For me ofcourse it had to be metal, mostly progressive, i.e Children of Bodom, Sonata Arctica, Rammstein, Kammelot, Iced Earth, Nightwish.

Since I gotta go with one, I'll go with Blues. Always has been my favorite, always will be. However, I also like pre-80's rock, especially 50's and 60's, i.e. Creedence Clearwater, the Beatles, early Floyd, Hendrix, Joplin.
Edit: come to think of it, Janis Joplin was more blues than rock. Jimi Hendrix did some really good blues, too.

I was enthralled with the amount of optioms provided, especially for rock music. To most people, there seems to be simply rock and rock'n'roll. I suspect that it is the beliefs of those who listen to rock that they cannot simply name their music in the title of "rock" and must make up new titles based roughly on what chords are played and how they are played. Unlike classical which can go from a piano to a symphony orchestra, Brahm's Lullaby to Deis Irae.
old rock music like Floyd...Floyd and yet more Floyd

wheres the emo-screamo-hardcore options? bah. there not even an OTHER option. Yes, there is an Other option (number 25). I made a mistake with the order and tried to correct it using drag and drop. Apparently, the drag and drop function doesn't work, so the duplicate wasn't corrected. I was trying to beat the 5 minute limit in posting the poll, hence the mistake.
As for the Emo-screamo-hardcore, next time. ~:)

Reggaeton is that popular eh? We'll see if it's just a fad or it establishes itself. Trip-Hop used to be popular you know. For now, either vote for Latin or Dance.

What the heck. Went for Indie Rock in the end, since that's the closest I could get to fitting in some of my favourite bands: Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Mogwai, Friends of Dean Martinez, Explosions in the Sky... but there's so much more that could easily fit in one of the other categories. Choosing a favourite music genre just doesn't do the music justice.

Classical. Namely Tchaikosvsky, Mozart, and Wagner.
Why?
I suppose i like modern rock if that includes incubus, angelfire, primus, chilli-peppers however i like a lot of "funky stuff" aswell so a bit of a difficult poll, i agree with the 2 types of music idea (good, bad) as its very hard to define the music into clear catagories without excluding some of the more "vague" genres
Rock (classic and modern) and other alternative music.
But if I really have to choose I'll go with Modern rock >80, because of the 90's really; I'm not a real 80's fan.

Metal has been my favorite for a long time. It just seems ( it probably just me) the metal it itsself has'nt gotten quite the recognition it deserves in America. Among the other people I know that listen to metal CoB is well known, it just that where I am most people are either into rap, alternative, or pop. It's probably just my pesimistic attitude. And yes I humor you

I disagree. The "metal" that's played on the radio and TV isn't metal at all. The real metal is underground and that's how it should stay.

You are totally misunderstanding me and I am getting really confused> In all honesty I like metal in a way not being mainstream, but I still don't think metal get enough credit. What I was saying that most the bands I listen to and that Includes CoB Are pertty much underground in the US. I don't know about you but where I live I can never find them on Radio or TV. And I agree most mainstream meatl bands suck. But did'nt this al start with me saying that I thought CoB was Undergund in the US
