View Full Version : BI - circumventing the Romano-British emergence
Well,
I haven't found the event that spawns the Romano-British in any text file, so I must assume that it is hardcoded.
The problem is now, that I couldn't remove it yet, which is very bad for modding.
I already tried removing the "spawned_on_event" flag in descr_sm_factions.txt but it didn't work
I then tried putting them on the map in the beginning, which didn't work, either.
Did anyone manage this yet? If so, please tell us how you did it.
I'll continue research on this, too.

I've put them in the game and they seem to be fine as well. Also added a few provinces. Here's a pic: (For those wondering whose in the bottom right corner, I consolidated the Roman rebels and added the Berbers)

Well I'm totally positive they appear.
I put them on the map giving them Caledonia, then I played the Celts, took Britannia Superior and Britannia Inferior and a stack of the Romano-Brits appeared.
I think the problem is that the culture of the provinces didn't change to non-roman. This is what triggers it, as the Roman Rebels don't do that, either.
(Sorry for double-post)
Sorry guys, didn't work as expected
Edit:
lol, sometimes I can be thicker than a castle wall.
Ok, have you wondered yet what the "britain" resource does?
Well it obviously enables the Graal Knights in Britain, doesn't it?
But this is not all it does: it also signifies which settlements have to be lost to trigger the romano-brits.
So if you simply remove that resource from all provinces, no RBs appear.
Damn it, I thought it was just used for the Graal Knights...
Oh, an aside if you do this: If you want to keep the Brits building Graal Knights you'll have to create a new hidden_resource for them. I decided to leave that out anyways ;)

Is it possible to make a shadow faction playable whilst retaining its ability to emerge in each region as a result of the peasant revolts of the faction it is shadowing?
I'll put that on my to-do list ;)
I don't know when I'll come around to it, though, there's quite a lot on that list already.

Excellent find! I guess the same counts the following hidden resources: slav for the emerging Slavs and either bosphoran or sughdian for the emerging Ostrogoths?
I think they are spawned in other ways:
The slavs have an event in descr_events.txt where you can specify a region and the Ostrogoths are spawned on revolt in Goth settlements.
This seems only to have been done with the Romano-British who have a more complex way of appearing.
