Salvete amici,
Like everybody here, I play RTR v6.1 until EB mod its released~:handball: . I try to play as historically accurate as possible. In custom battles, for instance, I tend to recreate the armies composition in a known battle or campaign. It is well known from several sources that iberian infantry or numidian cavalry fought alongside the carthaginian army in the river Trebia, lake Trasimeno or Cannae. Or, we know that Julius Caesar made use of Gallic cavalrymen and other mercenaries during his Gallic campaing. That is OK. But, how we could "translate" all this knowledge into the game? I assume you are already swamped with work, but I would much appreciate if someone could prepare a sort of a manual for realistic historial battles giving information as follows:

1) Recreating the battle of Cannae (Carthago versus SPQR)
SPQR: 5 units of velites, 5 units of hastati, 5 units of....., etc
Carthago: 3 units of iberian scutarii, 3 units of....., etc
Map battle: Italian basin

2) Recreating the battle of Carrae (SPQR versus Parthia)
SPQR: 10 units of early legionaries,.........., etc
Parthia: 10 units of horse archers, ......, etc
Map battle:.....

3) Recreating the battle of Aqua Sextiae (SPQR versus Gauls and Germans)
etc, etc, etc

Thanks a lot from Barcino, Barcelona:bow: .

We'll be adding historical battles ourselves, so when we do research on such things it will be to change the battle, not as a historical footnote.

-but the "units" used will be historical?

-another thing: are you going to use RTW-maps. or make your own custom-maps?

-is Thermopylae possible?

-but the "units" used will be historical? Are you really asking me that question?

-another thing: are you going to use RTW-maps. or make your own custom-maps?Historical battle maps are generated using the campaign map like all campaign and custom battles. We choose the x , y coordinate for the battle.

-is Thermopylae possible? No, it is over 200 years before the start date of our mod.
