BI and Sp:TWa are out, so I wonder what they are working on and when they will announce it.

It must be soon.

Edit:

I just looked thr CA website and under the jobs section it says:

Lead Artist (Australia)

We are looking for a Lead Artist for our next Total War PC title, who has at least 5 years experience in:

So we know there will be a new TW game.

I believe it will be about Ancient Greece.

I hope not, I am sick to death of phalanxes.

What is time period is really popular now? (eg movies, TV series)

Troy
Alexander

Could be Greece, but as others have said, they are quite close to that era with RTW.

We could just discuss the next TW game in one of the many threads on that subject :martass: ~;)

I think they'll go further into the future rather than back. The next game will probably use the pretty much the same engine I'd imagine, although updated, and I'm sure phalanxes and ancient combat has pretty much been done with RTW. I'd rather see something new on the combat front, even basic guns. Magazines and games journalists are probably more likely to hype up 'Amazing new gunpowder units that obliterate approaching enemy ranks whilst filling the air with choking black smoke!' than, 'more phalanx units and javelin throwers have been added, now 165 variations available!'. Besides, who doesn't want to see some proper 3D castles complete with moats, or Napoleon getting his head blown off? Just no more badly controlled phalanx units please.

this would make a great poll

I doubt there would be enough customers for a Greece:TW game, after all Troy didn't live up to the expectations of most people, and phalanx warfare with limited or no cavalry support makes for very little variety in the tactics IMO. I think it'll be either Napoleonic or Pike and musket era. Or an M:TW2, the Medieval period always works.

MTW 2 would be the perfect game pack.

If very well done, it could turn #1 game in the whole world. ~:)

As agreek i hope it will be for Ancient Greece ~:)

But it could also fill the gap: 476 - 1090

Personally I'd like to see "Three Kingdoms: Total War" straight from the Romance of the Three Kingdoms.

After all isn't the strategy of Total War based upon the tactics and wisdom of Sun Tzu.

And as Koei has shown, the era is full of potential for a popular game.

I still dream about a older game than RTW, like "Empires" with Egypt, Hatti, Mitanni, Minoans, Babylonia etc etc. Don´t think it will sell enough though since it´s too far back. I guess AC will move into the European 15-17th centuries with an expansion-pack covering the American liberation war.

Victorian: Total War!

no, because

the whole world at your british imperialistic feet!

What would be the point?

Ugh, please anything but tons of scripted events. I don't want to play history, I want to rewrite it. I've never been able to get into the Paradox games because of all the scripted events.

That said, i'm really hoping for a Three Kingdoms: Total War. Its such a nice period and and one with a wealth of material available on it. Of course, some people start foaming at the mouth at the suggestion of a TW set in Asia despite CA's first game so its probably unlikely at best.

I disagree with you there pal. I know some people like Sandbox History like CA seems fairly adept at, but I think there should also be some historical direction for nations not being controlled by the player. Also this style would make things like marriages and diplomacy have more of an impact on the game.... actually...just two...yes two...things i'd like CA to never ever use again in their next TW games is being Turned Based and having to control agents on the map.

They are coming out with the ancient greece one for console.

Napoleanic total war would be cool.

What I'd actually love is to see them do a Sci Fi one. If since Masters of Orion II I've been thinking about how CA would have done such a better job.
