Does anyone here know a good free spyware remover I can download ?

I never really concerned myself with spyware because I don't use the internet for financial transfers of any kind, but I recently decided to check if any 'unwanted software' was installed and the list I got from a few programs was quite big (over 200 files), so I'd like to get rid of them now...

Hijack This. You'll need to be minimally computer literate though.

I highly recommend Adaware and Spybot Search and Destroy.

Both are FREE, and they are updated all the time...

Don't surf the internet without them...

Cheers!

I use Spybot S&D and Spyware Blaster-which is a nice little utility that prevents spyware infecting you in the first place. You can probably google it.

Hijackthis.exe is also priceless.

Hitman Pro (http://www.hitmanpro.nl) is a Dutch free anti-spyware programme that integrates most available freeware such as Ad-Aware, Spybot S&D, CWShredder, etcetera, as well as any payware you have installed on your computer. Hitman's own heuristic analysis is excellent, too.

Another good free anti-spyware programme is the German AntiVir PersonalEdition (http://www.free-av.com).

Hijackthis is indeed important, but so is Pocket Killbox (http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/files/killbox.php), a little gadget that allows you to get rid of files that stubbornly refuse to allow deletion by normal anti-spyware. Handle with care...
