View Full Version : What do you feel good about at the moment--yes this very moment!

I feel good because the house is quiet and I'm the only one up. I actually have some "alone" time ~:). I've swapped a life of near-complete solitude for a life of family with three young kids, so I'm going through a bit of a social shock. It's been a wonderful and interesting change, but the one thing I really miss is my "alone" time. So I really enjoy the now-rare moments like these.

I also feel good because I'm helping some close friends get through some very difficult times, and they're helping me in return. This is what a good life's all about. And Maplewood NJ is so beautiful this time of year.

I've gone from Sacramento, California (my home town where I grew up), to Reno Nevada (the "t'aint" of all the places I've shacked), to Maplewood over the last two years. I just arrived here about a month ago, and I dig it. I'll have to get out my map to see where Bergen County is. I'm still getting my bearings; I haven't gotten out and about much yet because I'm taking care of kids while their mom recovers from major surgery. I did get to roam around NYC (Chinatown, Little Italy, Soho, Noho, and Lower East Side) Friday night and ate a great Chinese seafood dinner at Fulleen's. I can't wait to spend more time in the City.

I feel good!Because I just moved home to the north of the country where the air is clean, the water is deep and my house is twice as big. Goodbye traffic jams, hello green pastures and yachting. First thing I did was put James Brown into my Dolby surround and turn the volume far, far up.

So good, so good...

I am getting an award in my college. Only one person gets this award, which is for having 100% attendence and punctuality, putting in a hell of lot of effort and getting an A at the end of it. The school of computers and IT staff are happy and so is the rest of the class. It is one of those things universities look for.~

Also I got my joystick working, so now I can play Mechwarrior4. I just got a Timber Wolf (a MadCat for those Inner Sphere types).

And I have been applying the "In Soviet Russia" joke to everything. The strangest one is "In Soviet Russia window looks though YOU.":dizzy2:

They won't....
I took the UK (not their puppets/colonial holdings though), America likes me, and allies are vastly technologically inferior and lack the air force/navy to punch a hole through into my Europe. They are too busy getting their ships sunk in the Med, plus I have a large army in Italy that already booted them out once. It is '46 and Russia is mine for the taking, after the first time I rolled over them I have every reason to believe they will fall easily and there is nothing the allies can do about it. The UK invasion of Italy was during my campaqign against Russia, only took 2 Panzer divisions and 6 Italian infantry (outdated) to push them out and pocket a few divisions. Victory, or at least survival is nearly inevitable.

Yesterday afternoon I went for a walk, down to the South Orange village. On the way to a large, beautiful park where I like to sit and read by the duck pond, I stopped at a coffee shop to first enjoy a cup of java. When I entered, I couldn't help but notice an attractive blond woman, dressed in jeans and a rough, "rancher"-style coat, sitting and drinking coffee. She noticed me too--both of us exceeded the timeout period for a "casual glance." I allowed my lips to ever-so-slightly smile after our eyes met, and went on to get my coffee. After spicing my cup, I went outside to sit. I glanced at her casually on my way out, but she seemed preoccupied with her book and didn't look up as I passed her. She did look when she left the premises though, as did I, and it was she who let her lips ever-so-slightly smile this time.

I'm currently living with friends. The wife took the kids out for lunch after school today. When she returned, she had a lady-friend and two additional kids with her--over for a visit. The kids were friends of the kids who live here, and the woman was their nanny. Guess who the nanny is? A very strange coincidence indeed ... .

She is Polish, and speaks with a heavy accent. The wife says she's been here for maybe two years. She has a young (seemed quite a bit younger than me), beautiful figure, but deep, old eyes (I love that; she seems to be no stranger to hardship). Her personality is strong; she speaks assertively and acts accordingly. I liked the way she looked directly into my eyes when speaking, and that she listened carefully to everything I said. We had a pleasant, casual exchange, until I caught a hint from the wife that I was cutting in on her friend-visit time. I excused myself with a smile and a "... pleasure meeting you."

I feel good, considering the possibility that I may run into her again at the coffeeshop. If I do, perhaps we will continue our conversation.

Lol ... why all this doom and gloom? Maybe it will, maybe it won't, maybe it'll be something in-between. Considering what's within my power to control: much depends on my attitude, approach, etc. That which is out of my control: well, *shrugs*--it's out of my control. It'll be what it will be; that's what makes it interesting.

When you don't project expectations on a situation, you are not so often disappointed. I'll just do my thing, and see what happens.
