Been playing RTW since installing BI to try out the Roman Factions in the new game and the Senate missions seem far improved!!

In 1.2 I would only every get thje initial "take settlement" followed by infinite "block port" missions and the occassion "take settlement" mixed in once or twice.

Now I get everything in the mix! Send a diplomat, get a trade agreement, get their map details, we must know more about this faction, etc etc. It makes it so much better to play and not just cringe when a senate mission appears thinking "which flippin port do I have to blockade now?" (and its usually someone you just got a ceasefire with). Hoo-rah!

Also, for the first time playing RTW, other factions nearly beat me to their (short campaign) goals. Not just one faction, but three!! I was Brutii and Julii, Egypt and Thrace came up within a turn of each other in the message "your honour as a roman is about to blah, blah, blah". I still won but boy did I feel the pressure!

Thank you CA, that was ace fun!!

Weird cos in 1.2 in the mid game I would get the occaisonal obtain map, obtain trade rights or obtain peace missions. I'd also get kill so and so missions especially if I'd gone on an assasination spree recently.

Senate missions really spoil the game for me, that why I like mods that take the senate out of the game altogether.

I think this was posted somewhere else but can't find it now...When I launch straight RTW with BI install, it boots out to desktop, anyone point me in the right direction for a fix/what I'm doing wrong thread please?

Do you use the BI cd to play RTW ?

So far re-playing as Julii (been quite a while after RTR sessions) I always ignore senate orders unless it comes in my way. Wondering if it sppeds up the civil war.

My RTW used to do that after I installed BI. I had to reinstall the media format 9 (or whatever its called) from the Rome disc1. It has ran okay after that.
I did have a problem with BI crashing to desktop when I made a faction appear (eg. Romano-Brits) but that was because I hadnt updated my nForce drivers. Oops. Sorted now though. Hope that helps.

Yes, I find this enjoyable as well. 1.3 really makes RTW fun again.
