Not sure if there's already a thread on this, but it has confirmed that British actor Daniel Craig is the new James Bond for Casino Royale. Check here for the article, where there's also a pic of him in 'Bond' mode:

I think he's a good choice.

Wouldn't have been my choice, but at least he's British I suppose.

At first when I heard about it on the radio I thought it was rather weird that a blonde guy is the new James B(l)ond(e). But now that I've seen the picture I don't think it's all that bad. Expected someone a lot more blonde..

i don´t get the entire problem with him being blond.....wasn´t roger moore blond ??

P.S.- the harder thing for me now is trying to wath the movies with a straight face as "bond" seduces another bondgirl....yeah right! like that guy could do it ~D

Good choice for a bad role. I think Craig can act - he was very good as Geordie in Our Friends from the North (and also light years away from playing Bond). More recently, he's had more typical leading man roles where he has shown a taciturn masculinity that would seem to fit the part. But he's probably conflicted about taking such a neanderthal role - he did an interview when he was asked whether he would try to bring more depth to the part, and seemed to answer that would not want to risk upsetting a money-making franchise. ~

I'm not happy with this choice either... While the discussion is up, who would you rather see as Bond? It's hard to find someone who could be close to what Sean Connery was as Bond... The only one I can think of that could fit for the role is George Clooney. IMO Bond should be a slightly older guy who thinks more than he dodges bullets from several assault rifles firing at him, like in the good old days which are gone forever ~:handball: ...

He looks the part, and he's British. Good enough for me.

I'll reserve further judgement until I've seen the film.

That's just it, though. The depth of James Bond is that he is more of a neanderthal - social commentary about the current state of the Scot on the world scene.

He was excellent in layer cake (a vastly underrated flick)

For those who don't like it - just remember it could have been Clive Owen. That should make you feel a whole lot better.

Gah!

Well, never heard of the guy, but I'll wait till I see the movie to decide. But I wish it was more of a Sean Connery...

Gah!

Well, never heard of the guy, but I'll wait till I see the movie to decide. But I wish it was more of a Sean Connery...I feel that Craig may be able to bring some authenticity to the Bond part; less glamour and glibness, more gratuitous violence, upper middle class ennui and destructive sexuality. Craig's rather hollow, cruel face seems to predispose him for it. I am hoping for the best. After Brosnan, who gave it his best shot but who could not even say 'actually' with the Queen's proper intonation, everything is an improvement. The choice of Williams would have spelt instant death for the series.

I would like to see Edward Fox brought back as 'M'.

'Get cracking, 007!' ~ :coffeenews:

Weren't the first 10 or so more about single one on one fights with bullets and infiltartion than blasting through Russian cities with a tank?

There's no Q in this one I believe. Its real back to basics stuff. Then what happens when he's trapped on a cliff? He won't be able to go down without a gadget. ~

How will he be able to break his iron shackles without a laser pen/watch etc? ~D

He was good in the road to perdition, at least.
