View Full Version : Primary/secondary weapons help!

Hey

I have some problems with some of my archer models. Sometimes, the primary and secondary weapon appears at the same time. I hve named them "primary weapon" and "secondary weapon" but still they both appear.

Anyone who knows the roules for this, and why they sometimes appear at the same time?

new to this myself actually, I am assuming you are talking about export_descr_units.txt?

Or is this a new Unit that you made in MAX?

I guess what is not clear here is where did you name them "Primary weapon", "Secondary Weapon" ?

On the fly (and making assumptions here), I would sugest you make sure they are properly identifyed in export_descr_units.txt, second, make sure that the model itself is using two animation skelletons in descr_model_battle.txt

like "fs_spearman, fs_swordsman"

Hope this helps, and if I am completelly wrong here, looking forward to learn myself :P

Actually, i think this is a max issue, but i allso got some answers from the scc forum. One thing that i had done wrong, was to forget to rename a weapon that was just for show (primaryweapon hanging in hes belt.) That gives the model two primary weapons.

The other thing i tested, was to make two whole sets of sword, shield, and bow, and then merging them in to one object containing all 3 types.

My goal was that when he used the bow, the shield and sword wold hang on hes back, but when hw switched to 2'nd weapon, and the primary weapon disapears (then allong with the shield and sword on hes back, witch is a part of "primary weapon") he could have the shield appear in hes hand, and the bow on the back.... Anyway, it turns out that the weapons can only be connected to one bone, so the sword, and shield on the back wasn't possible.

So by renaming properly now it works well?
