Folks,

I'm WRE and I've made the empire christian by building shrines and churches everywhere. I re-took any pop centers that rebelled and now nearly every pop center is 90%+ christian. However, I've still many family members that are pagan.

So my question is how do I convert my family members to christian?

Cheers

1. pack them onto a unit (preferrably really low numbers) of birreme
2. send them to attack a big stack of naval force
3. they go to heaven
4. they become christian

You can't. New ones tend to be born whatever the dominant religion of your faction is though. If you have particularly troublesome members that cause problems due to their religious traits, I suggest you send them off to do some conversion via martyrdom.

Actually you can have a guy convert. I had one family member (and I stress only one) convert from paganism to chrsitianity. It's possible however unlikely.

Really? Wow... it would be helpful if someone with access to the game files (read: not at work) could post the game file pre-requisites for that to occur.

That`s well done. If you put him in a christian settlement he begin to hate christianity, if you put him in a pagan a pagan one he become stronger in his faith. So where did you put him; in a desert?

Looked through the triggers and found none that would convert a family members original religion that they got when the computer created him. Two things though.

First is OfferedForMarrige: I believe this is refering to offering a daughter for marrige and applies to the new son the family is getting. However, if it also refers to sons getting married then the OfferedForMarrige line of triggers could change a leaders religion when they get married. Will have to figure out how exactly to test for that.

Second is there is always a possibility that CA hard coded and event that could cause religious conversion. Never heard them say anything like but also have not looked through the events file to see if there is anything in there that might apply.

As magnum stated, OfferedForMarrige is only for bring a new general in through marrage. There are other triggers for getting married... For example:

Trigger family4
WhenToTest CharacterMarries

Condition Trait Girls >= 1

Affects Prim 1 Chance 40

And the only triggers that effect the religion (Pagan, Christian or Zoroastrian traits) are the birthm adoption, marrage or agent creation triggers...

So either the converstion is coded else where or lars573 may be mistaken (no offense ment)...

I'm as sure as I can be without having taken a screen, he might have goten married. I don't pay the marital status of my males childs no mind.

Well, then it is out with the good old mod-stick... In this case the benevolent one that has nothing to do with forum moderation (as you might have noticed that I'm not a moderator).

~

Edit. ooh, you mean you are going to mod religious converstion in right?? Cool...

Something like If Pagan = 1 and PaganDisillusion = 3 and temple = christian then Christain = 1 (or possibly 2 so you don't end up as an athiest)... Something like that...

Well, so that persons who aren't too deeply religious can be converted to the local religion of the current settlement. They should of course also be able to continue to risk becoming rather unpleasantly surprised with said religion.

Cool...

Of course three are only three defining traits in this; Pagan, Christian and Zoroastrian. They are exclusive and have only one level with a threshold value of 1. There is no "no going back" level set either. So you are one religion or another, no in betweens... So if you are a pagan (Pagan = 1) to be come a christain you would need to points in christain to become Christain = 1...

All the other religious stuff are additional traits based on these defining ones. You would have to be careful to remove these I guess to prevent illegal/illogical combos...

Actually, converts tend to be far more zealous than those born to a religion. If anything, I would make them more likely to become fanatics.

No I meant so that they still might get all those anti-pagan traits if they are Christians in a Pagan settlement.
