I was wandering whether it will be possible in EB to reinforce a besieged city's garrison via ships, if the harbour is not blockaded. It would be a nice feature. Besides it could be possible to resupply the city via ships or something, thus making sieges longer (hey sometimes sieges went on for more than a decade!) , and enhance the importance of blockades - which is imho often overlooked.
I think these features would be both historically correct, more realistic and fun.

I'm afraid this is a pipe dream, but it would be totally awesome if it were possible.

No argument with your last statement, but it is not possible with the current limitations of the engine.

Ohhhhhh that would have been a great addition to the game. An excellent idea non the less.

You could do the last part, the re-supplying of a city during a siege by ships, couldn't you? I don't know the specifics at all, but a suggestion would be to have ports give a bonus to how long a city can survive under-seige (like walls) unless it is itself besieged. Or is such a bonus hardcoded to walls only?

Yeah this makes sense.

There is no way to do this, technically. If someone knows of a way to do this, I would be interested to hear it.

I also think then that you should only be able to do this to cities that are actually port cities. it would be unrealistic if cities could get supplies from a port tens of kilometres away. But then we can't do it anyway, so yeh. Just thought i would say it anyway.

Don't walls give a city the ability to withstands sieges longer? Can this ability be transfered to a special port building (only buildable in those cities that have their own ports)?

And lastly: is it worth adding this extra building for the few cities that have their own port if it means dropping another one? ~;)

Hrrrmn, well...if its possible you could give specific port cities known for withstanding sieges via supply lines from ships a special building with an effect that extends the length of time it takes to siege the city in question. Although I don't know how practical that would be

Can this ability be transfered to a special port building (only buildable in those cities that have their own ports)? If so, this is hardcoded, and the only way we could utilize this is if we were to take one of the wall levels and change it into some special building, thus losing the wall.
