I'll help. I've got nothing better to do for the next couple of weeks other than to sit around. May as well make myself useful.
Silly question. I apply, as usual.
As a long time lurker and first time poster I'd be very interested in joining the beta testing.
I have experience testing the A Game of Thrones CCG and have sent reports on game features and worked in a group before. I am currently halfway through my university education, although as it is in economics this may be a mark against, rather than in favour of, my English language skills! Luckily, almost half the credits in my degree come from history modules.
I have a fair amount of experience of coding and can post my machine specifications or email them if required.
Hopeful of being involved.

Also, a long time lurker myself, I would be willing to devote a good deal of time to this process. I am a 25 year old soldier who works in military intelligence, and have a bachelor's degree in both English Literature and History. My focus areas are Medieval and Classical History and Literature, and I run a rather high-end computer and am fairly experienced with modding but mostly for Paradox games and only recently RTW. I do not know alot about coding or most other computer-leet-speak ~D , but I do know alot about writing, history, and the ancient mind.
I am very supportive of this project and its devotion to classical history and realism.
I play at least 25 hours a week gaming as it is, and so this would not be a problem for me. I am willing to help in whatever way possible, if not in playtesting, in writing or proof-reading.
Oh, and I happen to be an intelligence analyst, so analytical thinking is my forte'. :) No MI JOKES PLEASE :)

how complex would the code editing process be?
This was my original post plus a whole lot of edits. I have now put it into one nice, complete deal.
I would love to help out if I can. I am still in high school. I have a GPA above 4.0 and I take all honors classes. When I get to college I plan on majoring in history or some sort of HTML/web design thing.
"Write detailed reports on bug/balance findings."
I write reports and research papers all the time for school. I just wrote one about nuclear power.
I am fluent in English and I am not a bad writer. I also know a little bit of Spanish, if that matters.
"Regularly perform minor code changes and downloads as necessary to maintain build playability. (You will be given instructions for code changes. No prior experience with code is necessary.)"
I am fairly familiar with some of the text files, especially the descr_strat file. I have learned about them entirely through trial and error. As soon as started a campaign and realized that all of the cities were underdeveloped and I couldn't train any triarii or princeps, I found that file and started playing around with it. I also have done some basic modding with Rise of Nations.
"Engage in analytical thinking to investigate bug sources."
That's how I figured out how to edit the descr_strat file. I am very good at recording data also. I do a lot of this with a historical college football rating system that I developed and maintain.
"Adhere STRICTLY to EB's community relations policies."
I don't think that I would have a problem with this.
"Be able to work independantly in the absence of instructions."
I work well alone.
"Contribute no less than 15 hours per week of playtesting.'
I would be available to do whatever you want me to as long as I don't have to0 much homework. Some weeks I would not be able to get to the full 15 hours, but on other weeks I could work longer. I couldn't do very much work for you until after next Tuesday because I have football practices and a game plus whatever homework that I have. Once football ends I will have much more time.
"Work in a team environment and be willing to follow directions."
That's what football is all about. That and knocking the snot out of people with who have a different color shirt on.

I'm very interested to become a beta tester. I have a loot of spear time to test because for the moment I am unemployed. But unfortunately I can not perform minor code changes. My english is not so good but I think I can make my self understood. I visit this forum at least 2-3 times a day and have done that since new year. So I must say that I am a very... very...big fan of EB. I hope for a positive answer.~ ~ ~

I m interested in beta-testing EB. I don't post often but I check the forum everyday since december. English is not my native language (it's french) but I think I'm able to work in an English environment (I got 850 points at the TOEIC and I'm currently working for the GMAT).
I can test beetween 2 and 4 hours a day depending on my timetable. But,I don't know how to perform code changes.
So I would really hope to help the EB project because even if I don't post a lot I'm a big fan of your project.

I would be happy to help, if you need any assistance. I'm part of General Sun's beta team and I have beta-tested builds of EB in the past, and certainly have adhered to the required standards of confidentiality. I'm not sure how much I can help with coding, but I have a bit of experience with basic changes of text files.
Thanks

I'm interested. I'm majoing in history and political science and a minor in classics. I would say I have a very firm grasph of writing in general.
The coding Divinus is referring to is making small changes to various files in order to quickly test fixes. You'll be instructed in how to do it, and what to change. I don't think he'll hang anyone out to dry.
The testers aren't supposed to fix bugs, only to test things that coders, like me, give them. So, for instance, if a unit doesn't have the correct faction ownership and a settlement name in the script file is wrong, you'll be told which files to edit and how, and asked to see if it fixes whatever problems we are seeing.
Greetings EB Team.
I am very interested help you with the testing, if you want.
I am a fanatic RTW player (single and multi), I love this game and always I have interested in all mods, but mainly EB.
This is the mods section of my clan, Devoti Custodes.

Well, guess it's time for me to withdraw the veil! I'v been following EB progress for a long time now, since the original screenshot threads where historical accuracy would be discussed for 30+ pages, (maybe to long :P) and I'd be very excited to help with beta testing, I have lots of spare time I'd be willing to devote. My primary language is english, although i speak enough french to get by. I'm active here every day, and look forward to your reply :).
-I am able to devote much of my time, but due to parental circumstance, but I don't have access to Rome:total war every other week, but i can still read the forums and keep my text files up to date.

I'll do it, if you want....you mention a good grasp of english? My reading/writing age is (according to my Eng teacher's latest assesment) over the age of 21.
plus i love RTW, and have many an hour to play away

Am happy to help.
I am a 37 year old classics graduate, working as a Bank Manager in the UK. I am not a computer buff in any sense of the word, though I do have a vague undertanding of simple procedures, and the only games i own are Shogun, Medieval and RomeTotal War, which much to the detriment of other hobbies, I have been playing for the last four years.
I doubt I can be much help other than being able to offer impartial and constructive feedback on how the game works and feels when played.
Regards.
I'd be interested I think.
Could be a bit short on actual testing time though.

I am inrested in Beta tester position. I have lots of free time for gaming, and that goes mostly to RTW mods at the moment.
I have looked up for your mod for some time already and would like be part of the beta team that would make the game better for us and for other people also.
I am not too experienced when it comes to modding files, but I can assure that I give feedback for every bug or issue I encounter.
As I have Beta tested some other games I know what it is. I know it can be quite unpleasant experience sometimes, but some people need to do it so game/mod developers can fix issues noticed by Beta community.
Just let me know if you need extra Beta tester.
funny. It seems my registration to the guild was lost after months of not coming :P
15 hours a week... oh my. I, eh... I guess I could do it, but I'll have to abdicate of most other free-time activities, for the next two months at least (after that, I'll be all through college and will have plenty of time to game and party ~ )
I don't post much in this forum but i'm watching it and the progress of eb, since the first "countdown previews", every day.
My English isn't that bad, and it would be an honour to me, to help

I would apply but im already working on testerifying another mod so ill have too pass.
I would love to help. I've done a great deal of modding with traits/ancillaries and buildings so at the very least I would probably be able to help out with that...
15 hours per week shouldn't be a problem (I'm not 100% certain though - but I can always make some time for the greater good!)
I would be honored to offer my assistance
Edit-I have a highschool education and have done a bit of freelance writing for a few websites, so I am reasonably skilled in written communication

I can offer my assistance, In college now, poly sci major, so writing papers is natural to me :P, I have a good amount of free time as well this semester. I am fairly experienced in personal modding and balancing since MTW.
Holy crap. Fastest growing thread ever.
I'd very much like to be an EB beta tester, same as before. I only work part-time at this point, thus leaving me with plenty of time, but I should be working full-time around mid-November. If this is still a workable timeframe (now until then, I mean), then I offer my help.
I can help in the beta testing. I also have have 250 GB's of free space so I can have many different versions of the game if different versions need to be tested.

I'll volunteer for such hard duties and I have learned how to do minor changes to game codes. I also have a rather indepth knowledge of the history of this period and have read classics from contemporary historians of this time period such as The Early History of Rome and I'm in the process of translating a latin Aeneid (just to prove it to you EB members Divinus Arma means weapons of war belonging/relating to the the gods). I've been able to play atleast 19 hours a week of RTR, hey better than vannila, and I'm a good balancer w/ expiriance in other gaming fields.

I, too would, like to actively beta-test. All this free time of mine needs to be used up. I'm also very active at the TWC, but can be active here as well.
Would welcome the challenge and have the free time. Have pretty good knowledge of moding in general ( I know the syntax of each file and what it does).
Troubleshooting skills are above average. ( Was a system admin for last 10 years. )
Have about 20-30 hours per week free atm. With more in the possible future.
Have run more then one mod of RTW and MTW in the past on my games.
Have a clean install on my HD for EB set and waiting. Been sitting there since I heard about EB.~D

Well, I don't usually post on the org. I hang out in the EB forums at TWC where my name's Artannis Wolfrunner, and was a regular at the .com for a while before RTW was released and the forums became a third world hellhole.
English is the only language I speak so I should hope I have a firm grasp of it by now. I just finished high school a couple months ago and don't leave for college till January, so I have a massive void of time to fill till then and can make time once college starts up, 15 hours won't be a problem at all.
I don't really know anything about code, but if 'minor changes' mean just editing around with the text files, well, I've done plenty of that with MTW and RTW. I've beta tested for a bunch of games before, mostly MMORPGs like Everquest and Everquest II and Earth and Beyond and Star Wars Galaxies so I know the works of bug reports and excessively extended playing to get to a new place, only to have the game crash and your profiles reset but still finding the patience to keep double clicking on that desktop shortcut icon. I wrote map reviews for Unreal Tournament and CnC Renegade so deadlines and such aren't a problem. Contrary to popular belief, I am in fact not a robot, but a sentient being, so I can function on my own without preprogrammed instructions.
(Isn't it funny how threads like this double a forum's registered user count?)

In that case I could do it easily.
As for being able spot bugs and comment on the overall experience of a game, I'd say I pay a lot of attention to detail.
that said there are people here who are far more qualified than me who should rightly get the opportunity to beta test.
However if all else goes wrong, I could and can easily do what you would expect of a beta tester.
I have a Bachelor degree in history, and I'm currently getting a bachelor in journalism. Combine those two, and you've got someone who loves history, tracking down information, and correcting flaws. Add to that the facts that I love playing RTW and that I am a big supporter of this mod, and I hope you'll find me a suitable candidate to participate in the Beta Testing.
I'm looking forward to hearing from you.

This thread is growing very fast ! 1300 views in two days and more than 40 applicants !
Yesterday I went to a recruitment forum for training periods for students but I find myself more eager to have an answer from EB than from the firms I went to.......
'Hi, I'm 19, I'm single, I'm male and I'm looking to become an EB Beta tester. Choose me baby and you wont regret it.'
Seriously tho, I would love to look at the content of EB behind the scenes, and become a tiny part of the production of such an awesome project. As a regular I'd love to commit some of my time to become a tester, I wont bore you with my vices and virtues, experience and ambitions, I just want to help, and experience EB as soon as possible.
Well i applied last item, didnt get it, so il apply again, i play RTW probably way to much, but meh so id be interested in this.
I would like to apply as a beta tester.
I don't have much official modding experience but I am constantly tweaking my home game and have been playing RTW since last December. I also own a copy of BI and RTW 1.3, if you were interested in testing things on that program. I have a good computer but nothing spectacular.
I graduated high school cum laude and maintained a 3.0 GPA at UC Berkeley, graduating with a BA in biology in 2003 (or 2004 if you ask the College of Letters and Sciences).
You don't have to worry about understanding what I write, as American English is my native language and I am already a published author (in English) in an international scientific journal, PaleoBios. In addition, assuming it means anything, I have received a perfect score on every single standardized English language (SAT, ACT) or composition (SAT II, AP) test I have ever taken.
I currently hold a full-time job at a hospital and an extremely part-time job giving hour-long tours at the San Diego Zoo's Wild Animal Park, both of which require a very high level of communication ability and teamwork. I have also represented the SDWAP before literally tens of thousands of guests since February, so I know something about PR as well.
I am also a big fan and supporter of the project on both this board and TWCenter.net. I formerly maintained the thread The Lost Art of Keeping A Secret, REDUX after inheriting it from Sarcasm, who is now on your staff. Unfortunately my work schedule prevented me from continuing updates on that thread over the summer. However summer is over and I have a lot more time now.
Thank you for your consideration.
Mr Jones

I would also like to help with the beta testing. I have been a gamer for most of my relatively short life (i'm not quite 18) and have probably spent more time playing RTW than any other game released. Although i am not a modder myself, I am very computer-literate and will easily be able to implement any fixes and what not that you require me to do.
I come to these forums (and the TWC ones for that matter) at least twice and day and have ample time to devote to playtesting (at least 20 hours a week). I am quite devoted to this project and have completed a small amount of work for you a week or so ago. History is my favourite of all subjects (especially the classical period), and gaming (along with gridiron) is my favourite pass time, so this really plays right into my field. Oh i forgot to mention i have what most would consider a very good grasp of the english language (i topped my grade in our statewide english writing task and have had some of my poetry published in a few anthologies by the International Society of Poets).
I have been checking this forum every day for about six months now and being able to help you with the beta testing would mean the world to me.
P.S if you are wondering why it took me so long to reply to this call it is because at first i misread the post and thought that i would need to be able to edit the code myself. Once i looked throught the files and thought i would be able to do this i checked back to find out that i didn't need to do that even.
EDIT: i also forgot to mention that i have a high end system capable of running smoothly with all graphics options on their highest settings and with huge unit size

Are you interested in becoming an EB Closed Beta Tester?
Sure I am. I'm new in the guild, but I've been hanging around for the last months in TWC though I registered some days ago.
I am in university right now (but I do not live in it though, I'm from South America and it's another style, I live in my house) and I can play 3 hours per day for sure. I can also edit some files if you ask me, and I have a little experience in modding RTW.
Btw, I can speak english quite well.
Hope you consider me. I await your answer ~:)
