I'm not quite done with these historical campaigns 'cept for French, English and Mongols. I got stuck with the Barbarossa one and Saladin one.
Anyway, how do you beat those crusaders at Acre? One thing that stands between me and Richard campaign is that one stupid segment.
Since the camera moves onto the hill, I'm guessing I should pull all the troops back to that hill. Well, wouldn't my troops get butchered right away since I'm too close to the enemies?

Hi
What you do is, stand your ground with the units that are too slow and are going to get caught anyway. Move everything else back up the hill, turn it around and charge down the hill as soon as the crusaders are getting a penalty for climbing the hill. Also if you move a few of the units on the flanks out to the side, they draw off a large number of crusaders and can escape without being caught.
The trick of this battle is to break up the solid mass of the crusaders charge, some will be delayed destroying your slower units, others drawn off to the sides and you will be strong enough to defeat the ones that reach the hill with a charge from your cavalry. Then it is just a question of mopping up the rest. ~;p

I beat them on my 5th try of the day (yesterday). The funny thing is that I didn't pull back the troops but instead I charged them all. I didn't capture Guy though so it's not historically correct lol. I would show you the replay but I don't think it's saved in TW directory. Well, I couldn't find it anywhere.
Arsuf was quite easy. I beat it on my first attempt. All my troops routed and/or died but Richard and four bodyguards. Saladin fled. The last one is nasty. I'm still playing it.
