View Full Version : MTW: How build Welsh Longbows
What are the minimal requirements to build a welsh longbow unit? The guide says a Bowyer's Guild (and English possession of Wales) is required, but I can't seem to build them for ages, even with the BG.
Then I'm able to build them in places other than Wales, and I'm not sure what is the cause and effect here. Help!
IIRC, they become available when crossbows do.
Btw, this is MTW vanilla right? In which case the unit is simply called Longbows, and England can only build them when in possesion of Wales (and no-one else).
Some mods do have seperate Welsh and English longbowmen though.
Vanilla MTW 1.1. It's bizarre, because I can build crossbows but not longbows. It's frustrating. I very carefully built each building and monitored to see what was available.
OR! it could be I have to wait till 1205? (Read something in another thread.)
Hmm, yeah, its a set date AFAIK, if not crossbows then maybe those arablaster thingies (or whatever the hell they are called).
Hi Grond,
according to the MTW info pack,
Crossbows become available at the castle level and longbows at the citadel level together with Pavise crossbowmen elsewhere; doesn't say anything about the time period though so I assume (I know, I know...) that should not matter.

Longbows cannot be built until 1205
be sure to bribe the three LBs in Wales at the start of the game, then try to keep them busy (and protected) until the high era
