Thanks "The Daimyo" for putting the map pack together, and getting it on the official downloads page. This will help get these maps more widely distributed. The mapmakers really did a fine job on these.
Link(Micke)San: I too was struck by the beauty of FarmVillage. Kraellin told me that he has been to rural asia, and tried to incorporate what he saw into that map. He's also got another one like it in the works.

I'm glad you guys like the delivery method there. I was hoping that everyone would get it and we'd be able to play custom maps more as a result. For online play I've noticed that it's more fun playing these new maps with certain people because some maps are so well balanced, or they are totally zany (Rugged1 is an excellent example of extremes, and it is a visually scary map to behold for any player on the first few runs there!)
The map makers, TosaInu, Kraellin, Axial, Rob, Kasin, theforce, and YariPigsy - all did a good job with those maps. Whether it was their first ones, or their best yet, each one is a new challenge worthy of their praise here.
I can't wait for the new Map Editor and Scenario Editor to come out, that will rock!
There will most likely be 100's (Millions! http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/eek.gif ) of new maps and campaigns made as a result.
We may need to institute some type of ratings system, naming standards, and other organizational things around the community just to keep it organized.

Kudos to all, enjoy!

I liked the farmer's village to. But alas, my men were disheartenned to not find any ashigaru they could maim and kill there! They had already taken flight like a pack of whipped dogs...!
So, it was just me an my enemy among the beautiful crops...

Woo hoo! Great stuff! Mucho kudos to our map makers! This reminds me of the Olde Days when we found out how to crack into the demo to make maps and scenarios. The glorious days of the 8-army free for all! Excuse me, I have to go invade the village again....

I think they're all fantastic, and what about the pagoda City, now that is one rocking map.
TosaInu has brought to my attention that troops can get stuck on the Tanima map if the player deploys too close to the water. Going near the water is not a problem once the battle starts. This map presents some very interesting tactical choices due to it's unusual terrain features.
On the Hilleyvalley3 map there are some short strips of woods that are impassable. It's not caused by trees being too dense. Kraellin has told me he's not sure why that happened. I would caution against using that map in a comp game.
Already, I've noticed increased use of these custom maps since the map pack was released. It's got to be gratifying to the mapmakers to see them being used more frequently. Pagoda City seem to be a favorite of sorts. Good luck keeping your units together in there. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

Hey Puzz3D I noticed the same impenetrable tree situation in the Waterloo map. That hedge
like perimeter around the pagoda.Kinda weird,my yari were able to spear a few cavalry that got stuck there though, but couldn't press home the attack.

I'm totally impressed with the Unzen map - not because of the way it plays (I don't think it plays very well) BUT I used to live within view of Mt. Unzen, and that map looks exacly like it, road and all - although the cleft in it is modern - the mountain blew a while back, don't remember how many years - or decades. It was kind of neat walking around all those roofs at the base of Unzen sticking out of the ground.
