How to join a group/clan?

As the title stated, how do you join a group/clan? And what is a group/clan and what are the 'benefits'? Do you have to get invitations?

you mean like a MP clan ?

just post in one of their forums, or click on the sig of one of the clanmembers,
clans that spring to mind are Leo Honorius and Vandal Horde.
And there are lot's and lot's more clans, most of them need now members.
