Two 'problems' for the map-editing fans: I put up a wall, have a number of big guns taking potshots at it, get the message that the wall is breached...but nothing happens..the wall remains intact (where are the collapsing walls I see in the custom games ????)
I insert a gate in the wall and want my troops to bravely walk out and face the enemy....nothing happens...the gate does'nt open. Anyone out there with idea's ?

as far as i can tell, the castle walls made in the editor and then played in custom battles do not work right. it's a bug. same with the towers. they ARE destroyed, but the animaations dont work and dont SHOW as destroyed visually. you can walk thru the walls and the towers do stop shooting, but the animations and displays are bugged. hopefully this will be fixed in the patch. i cant swear this is truly a bug, but no rearrangement of walls or towers or keeps that i've tried will make it work right, but i may just be missing some key element to get these working right. doesnt seem that way though...seems like a bug.

as for the gatehouses, try a using an unlocked gatehouse, rather than a locked one.

Thanks a lot for your most speedy answer. This 'wall behaviour' really had me puzzled and I don't like to call it a bug immediatelly...but if you found the same thing...well.....
By the way: I will try the unlocked gate.
Another by the way: Thanks a lot for your earlier 'file' on map-editing. It sure helped me doing a lot of interesting things on the field of battle.

you're welcome.

i'm currently trying to break the editor again to see if i cant produce some odd effects :) the devs just love me; every time i figure out how to break things and do something new and interesting, they close the loopholes and then no fun again :( you shld have seen some of the earlier maps we used to make and the old demo editor. hehe, we did some pretty screwball things with that one. i also try and keep tosa corrupted on this, but the poor guy is so busy admin'ing these days that it's hard to get him to have some fun ;)

as for the docs i posted about the earlier editors, hopefully soon we'll have a new forum board and can semi-perm/sticky such things up for easy reference.

Not the first time I've heard about this, and I'm a little concerned because every time I try to reproduce it I get exactly what should happen.

Can someone send me a map which displays the non-falling-down behaviour? giljaysmith@hotmail.com

gil,

yup. i'll send you one. in the meantime, is there any criteria for building castles that we shld know about, special conditions and so on? normally, i make the castle with 'castle wall', a couple types of towers, at least one gatehouse, and one keep. at first, i thought maybe the walls had to be turned a certain way, since there is a rampart/embrasure thing on the top of one edge, but that doesnt seem to matter. same with the gatehouse, but again, doesnt seem to matter.

at any rate, it's in the mail.
