Hello all.

Does anybody know how the new patch will effect existing mods ?

Especially Campaigns. Im holding off on producing anything new for the time being until I can actually see what changes will be needed.

sadly giskard we don't yet,

i'm using the same excuse for a scenario i have up my sleeve,

time is very short for me,
SO i don't want to build something big and then have to change eveything to fit the patch...

Damm, when I saw a reply at last to
the question of the moment I tought
great news at last.I know, thinking is bad for me.

Bar,
got any more battel lbm's?
I'm going to use the ones we did for the demo
in the +90 thing I'm doing. LBA and I
have made a load more and the bifs for the
review panel and info pics.I'll planing on
doing the same for the rest everyone else
made too. They should not go to waste.
So if you got any more let me know.
Thanks

I think it's pretty obvious the patch will screw up any mods based upon the units_production file. CA has already said that they will be tweaking sword units, and adjusting some others. If they do that, it could only be done through changes to the aforementioned file since that is where are the stats are kept. Seems like modders would be better off waiting for the new file if they intend on editing or adding new units.

I'm creating a format the best way to do
that is to put into practice.
If I had a problem changing lines
in the production file then I would not
be modding in the first place.
Also if you think the only thing you need
to change is the production file
well my friend, you are sadly mistaken.
The bifs ,lbms,descriptions,names,deadpage
actionpage,weapons and shields.
These things do not magicly appear
when you make an entry in the prod11
I do wish it were the case but untill
then I will mod my work as I see fit
and see fit to have our several hundred
files compiled and created by the time
the patch comes out and then I will
moddify it accoringly as I have done
on many ocassions and will do again. If I
took this attitude with the demo
I would not know all the shit I know
now.So I won't be taking your advice
thank you very much http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

P.S. I believe things when I see them
I can not see a patch so I believe no
patch exists.

I too am expecting some of the key game files to be changed though not the campaign files. Just in case I thought id ask.

Since Barocca give me the solution to the bif problem my plans have been expanded somewhat.

Being an online player though I must be careful because modified files will prevent me from playing online.

Well i`ll just replace the patched data with the ones i modded a week ago, i fixed the valour stuff and balanced some things out and made playing relatively to my style so i dont really need the patched production files, besides most of the people are waiting for crash fixes and such so they wont have much complains about the mods being "old". Also modded campaigns should be compatible with the new version as long as some things in the production files arent changed like troop religion and such, where in that case you would delete all the MakeUnit:: lines http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/biggrin.gif

Geez, calm down, man. Glad you are so good at things - maybe everyone isn't a supermodman like you.

And you, my friend, are "sadly mistaken" if you think I didn't know that http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

Geez, Lord Krazy, all I was trying to do was answer a question and offer a suggestion. No need to jump all over me. Try taking your valium so you'll be a bit more chilled out before posting your next response.

Ran out of valium last week http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/biggrin.gif
I'm sorry if I offended you
by pointing out why I wasn't
taking your advice http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/biggrin.gif

also.Every suggestion has a counter suggestion sometimes good sometimes bad
so don't take it personaly, hell I don't
even know who are. Also I could not find the
bit where I said I was good at anything.
Edit's come from errors normaly in my case,
just cause I'm willing to amend them
does not mean I'm good at it http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/biggrin.gif

Now I suggest you stop taking valium and read what I wrote, not what you
think I wrote http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif
and please don't take this bad neither
it's a game we are talking about after all.
So remember no capital letters
