View Full Version : Mouse Trails
In RTW 1.0 and 1.2 I get thick trails following my mouse on the first two screen where you select New Game or Multiplayer etc. Also the second of the two screen over-prints the first so the text of both shows. This is a pain and doesn't happen in v1.3. However, most mods seem to be designed for v1.2.
Does anyone know how to fix this?
Thanks for any help.

It happend because of corrupted media codex 9. Reinstalling it might help. There's a detail explaination somewhere in the tech section but I forgot the link. Short of reinstalling windows (after formating of course) go and find the solution there.

You can install Windows Media Player 10 to fix the problem > http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/download/download.aspx
Thanks for the help.
I'm surprised that if I had corrupted media codec 9 files it doesn't show up in RTWv1.3 also, or in any other application for that matter.
However, oddly enough over the weekend I decided that there were enough odd things going on with my computer that it was time to implement the Ultimate Solution - reformat and reinstall the OS! Still updating, but should be finished soon. Hopefully, all will be well then.

Once again, thanks for all the advise. I'm still running Win98SE, so some specifics might not apply, but most of the ideas sure do!
Last night I finished reinstalling upgrades to my reinstalled OS on my freshly formated HD. Lo and behold, no more mouse trail!!!!! Among several other things I installed Media Player 9 (I think 10 requires XP) and upgraded the codecs - all suggested solutions.
You guys were right on target, thanks for helping me get smarter. Now I can move on from figuring out how to get Windows to work better to figuring out just where I want to position my cavalry and flaming pigs.
