Do the pre-battle speeches have any gameplay value? On troops' morale etc? If not, I'd like to know how to turn them off since I believe there's none left that I haven't heard. :coffeenews:
Also, how can I turn off the stupid commentary? This is not a darned soccer game mind you... ~:handball:
One last thing; can I get rid of the genius Marcus reminding "Seej iqwipmınt ootometikılee diployd foo yuu" before each and every assault without turning off the already law advice? (Victoria turns me on. ~D)
.
I suspect you have to turn off both Marcus and Victoria when setting the advice level at the start of a campaign. In my preferences.txt file I have
"ADVISOR_VERBOSITY:0" so I assume you can adjust that during the game.
The battle speeches, I just press start immediately to override them. I don't think they affect morale.
In BI, I actually miss the more verbose RTW Roman speeches - in BI you get a couple of sentences only - and I like to hear them before an epic battle.
I don't know if it is changed for BI, but I was rather shocked at how good some of Marcus's advice was during my first BI campaign. He told me to put my archers on the left of the bridge, so they hit the unshielded sides of the enemy crossing it. Nice one, Marcus! ~

Marcus did surprise me a couple of times indeed. When I cannot decide which temple to build, I ask Victoria. ~D

Oh what about the commentator? That idiot nagging you with "your general was so stupid that he's now feeding carion birds" when the poor fellow actually fallen by an accidental spear after depleting or routing stacks of enemy?

Marcus is great, but Victoria annoys me a lot. I wish there could be separate levels of advice for both.

Marcus is a guy....Victoria doesn't even look good!!!

I may be wrong here, but I actually thought you could set the advise of Marcus and Victoria seperately. At least, I'm sure it's adjustable ingame. Just go to the options menu (you know, by hitting escape) and go to 'game options'. Then you can adjust the advise level between high, medium, low or none. I think this is seperate for campaign and battle maps.
About the commentator you're right though, it's ennoying sometimes. (although I must say I heard worse commentaries during football matches...)

Perhaps she's got a sexy voice ~D Hm, maybe I should turn advisors on for a while, the barbarians have got a new campaign map advisor woman... ~D
I personally turned off all advisors almost immediately after installing both R:TW and BI. They might say good stuff occasionally, but if they tell me the tricks I didn't think of what is left for me to do? I'd really like to remove the commentary too, but never bothered. A simple way could be to just replace all the involved audio files with empty ones. But I don't remember the location of the files, and they're probably packed somewhere... Anyone knows where it might be found?

The original Victoria, pre-release, was much better than this over made up version. ~:)

Near Marcus' picture are several icons. One should read, "do not show this tip again." Click that, and you probably won't see it again.
Any other message from Centurion Marcus, I take heed. He has only given me information that led to a disaster once.
That once was to "maintain my present position and let the enemy come to me."
That works fine if you are on high ground, and there is only one enemy army coming.
In that case however, I was in a valley between two hills in the low ground, and there were 2 armies both larger than my own. One in front, and the other behind me. I got my buttocks kicked!
