Hello all.

This is for the new guys who want to mod for MTW.

Modding for the sake of it is doomed to failure. Your work will either be boring or will never get finished.

The best single piece of advice I want to pass on to new mod makers is this...

Before you even start a mod be sure you know exactly what you want to achieve by the time the mod is finished. Even if you do not know how to do it. Modifying a plan later is easy, trying to make a mod without a plan is just messy and usually just a waste of time.

The advantages of knowing exactly what you want to do is simple. Your requests for help are much clearer and more likely to get a response in these forums. Also other threads on a similar topic will stand out as relivent to your mod too.

Also dont aim too big at first. Many first timers try and make a total conversion and usually fail. Start small and work your way up. Be sure to test your mod before release.

Testing often finds bugs that would have slipped passed you otherwises. Every bug your fix increases your knowledge of the game.

Failing to test your mods simply means you will never know the games finer points that are required knowledge for all mod makers.

Such things only appear when you suddenly find your mod doesnt work.

Also don't expect forum users to write the bits for you. At some point your going to have to go it alone and figure something out your self.

These are basic rules every mod maker in here that has ever released anything has had to follow.
