I was just on Google, when I say its Halloweenie logo. Suddenly a brilliant idea came to me. As it's Halloween, why not have a ghost or spookie story competition within the next week or so?

It sounds like good idea, but if you want a real story contest we need to discuss the organization (and since I am up to my neck in work I won't be able to do much).

And somebody has to inform me of the exact dates of Halloween since it isn't celebrated in this outpost.

You don't have Halloween?:skull: It's the 31st of October, today.
Perhaps this contest shouldn't be as important as the annual major one, with no prizes, just the satisfaction of winning the contest. Therefore, perhaps it won't be necessary to have judges, just let the people decide.~:)

Annual? We've only had two so far.

So, you are suggesting that the competition should consist of a submission thread and a poll thread. From when to when should they be open?

Unfortunatly, it does seem that the Mead Hall has gone rather quiet. It may be because it is early in the week, but so far no-one apart from you and me has shown interested in the contest.

The problem is: Halloween is over. ~:)

Otherwise, I'm interested if you decide to do it, like many others. Remember, the Mead Hall is always quiet, despite the frequent use. After all, it is like a library. We've come to read, and few are generous enough to comment. When I used to write stories in the Mead Hall (when I was not burdened by all the heavy schoolworks thanks to my A.P. courses and Forensic Tournament...), I was quite desperate for feedback, and few commented, naturally. In fact, I myself don't normally comment on people's story. I feel I don't have the "authority" nor the "worthwhile" things to say.

I was rather doubting it, since no-one actually voiced his support. But if there are enough people interested, than I'd gladly help.

So don't be shy, and let us know if you want to participate.

Details, details.....~;)
As for the organization, say the contest is open for a week, with the same rules as the previous contest (I wasn't here before January so I just presumed the contest to be an annual one). It would require very little effort on you part, Ludens, all that is required is that you close the thread after the deadline for the entries (although an annoucement that there's a contest on would be nice~:) ). Otherwise, I would be the Master of Ceremonies, so to speak.
Do you like it?

I do. However, I am general house-keeper of this forum, so I hope you won't mind me fussing about it ~:) .

As for an announcement, I cannot post such a thing myself, but perhaps if I ask Tosa nicely... However, I would name it the "spooky story competition" or something similar. Calling it the "Halloween story competition" when Halloween is over is silly.

I know calling it a Halloween competition now is a bit daft. All contributions made by you, Ludens, are naturally very appreciated.

The rule is far from stupid. If more entries per contestant were allowed the writers that posted the most would stand a better chance of winning, even if their writing skills were less. Therefore, each partipants gets only one chance to prove his skill. Off course, if the competition was about the best story than the situation would be different, but I assume King Henry V meant this competition to be about the best writer.
