The newest Kenshin OVA, with latest CG graphics mixed with the best traditional cel drawing based on the Ghost in the Shell tradition. This time, though Kenshin is not Rurouni Kenshin, but Uesugi Kenshin! ~:joker:
It's going to be awesome. (Imagine a 4th Kawanakajima battle in GitS graphics, and probably the ninja death scene with Naruto-esque ninjas.) ~D
Uesugi Kenshin

Kenshin was almost certainly killed by disease, the guy couldn't walk or chew solid food for weeks before his death!
But yes that movie would be awesome.
I'd also like to see a movie about the Turkish siege of Constantinople in 1453. Not sure if there is one out, but I am certain that there isn't a recent one, and as long as it was accurate a movie with modern effects and props would be great.

Havent you ever seen Sink the Bismark. I love that movie

It seems the reviewer agrees with you though
Sink the Bismarck! is, up to date, the only movie made that deals directly with the operations, chase, and sinking of the battleship Bismarck. It is a British production based on the book of Cecil S. Forester (1899-1966): “Hunting the Bismarck”. The movie starts with original newsreel footage of Bismarck's launching in Hamburg. The main character is the fictitious British Chief of Operations, Captain Shepard, a cool man devoted to do his job who tries to keep his own personal feelings away. What people tend to criticise in this movie is the portrayal of personality of Admiral Lütjens. He is depicted as fanatical Nazi with a blind faith in his "unsinkable" battleship; moreover, he refuses to accept any suggestions from Captain Lindemann whose role in the movie depicts him as very passive character.
The models of the warships used are good, but the movie itself has a few historical mistakes. For example, two Swordfish are shot down, and a British destroyer (HMS Solent!) is blown up by the Bismarck, when actually nothing of the kind really ever happened. Anyway, besides those details, and keeping in mind the year of production, the movie is accurate enough, and every Bismarck fan would enjoy it. Let's hope to see a new Bismarck movie soon.

Kenshin was almost certainly killed by disease, the guy couldn't walk or chew solid food for weeks before his death!Ah, I know that. :) But you have to agree an assassination makes a better plot ending for a war drama than a disease. ~:)
Are we talking history here?"Kind of." Uesugi Kenshin was a real historical figure, but I also make allusions towards the anime industry and one of its masterpieces, the semi-(as in Hollywood semi)historical Rurouni Kenshin series.
I'd also like to see a movie about the Turkish siege of Constantinople in 1453.Great idea. I can see the light now, with all the critics proclaiming, "this time, Minas Tirith does fall." ~;) It could've been so dramatic and angst-y and all.
Did anyone ever do a "Fall of Carthage" movie?
Also, I'd like to see another remake of All Quiet On The Western Front.
How about a "Barbarossa" movie?

The Unification of Japan, 1550 - 1603. I'd absolutely love a set of movies that focused on the exploits/achievements of Oda Nobunaga, Toyotomi Hideyoshi, and Tokugawa Ieyasu. If you took Taiko by Yoshikawa and Shogun by Clavell, and smushed them together into a big-budget triology like LoTR, with each movie focusing primarily on one of these men, that would pretty much be what I'm talking about. It would have to be shot in Japan, with authentic costumes and sets. It would need to be in Japanese, with subtitles (no silly English overdubs). I would hope the soundtrack and cinematography would take my breath away (as did Ran the first time I saw it).
Sadly there is zero market for such a series, so it will never happen. ~:mecry:
The dutch 80 year war against Spain, it has all the stuff a good hollywood production needs.

I think your wrong. Shogun was a big hit on TV and Last Samurai also did well. I know I would love to see that. Theres a far bigger demand for this type of film that you might imagine.
A film about the German attack on Crete in WWII.
A bio of General W.T. Sherman

Hassan El-Sabbah's Hashashin cult and Seljuks dealing with them would make a great storyline and could involve interesting exotic scenes.
I would like an epic series of movies, spanning from Karl X to the death of Karl XII. This would then be done with a focus on war and the skill (or idiocy) of the swedish kings during that era.
Just imagen the Swedish army battle'ing it our during the 30 years war. I would frikkin wet my pants if I could see Yellow and Blue brigades march and crush imperial armies on the screen.
Or to see Hakkapelitas horsemen charge... or the Swedish insane vicotry at Narva.
.... by the gods, that would be sweet! :duel: :charge:
Another idea would be an epic tale of a viking starting out in what is now sweden, venturing east and ending up in the Varangian guard and later returns to "sweden". (guess Svea would be the right word for the area at that time) :viking:

A lot of possible candidates, but a movie about Sertorius would be my pick; he was a fascinating character, whose life would make perfect movie material. A film based on Xenophon's Ten Thousand would also suit the big screen rather well, I think.
Or some kind of movie based in Athens during the Peloponessian wars. There was a lot going on then, and I'd love to see a movie attempting to capture the feel of politics in some part of the classical world.

The Unification of Japan...
This would be sweet! Their fighting with the Mongols would be fun too! Or really anything that focused on Japan. Definitely a segment of history and the world that has been underserved by non anime movies.
If done right I wouldn’t even mind sub-titles.~;)

:bigcry: It looks horrible!
I would like to see a movie about Operation Citadel, and its bloody conclusion at Kursk. That would be a very intense film, on the order of Saving Private Ryan.
Mmh.
The exploits of Henry Morgan (the pirate)- enough amazing feats there so that no Holywood fluff would have to be added.
Here is one that will never be made: The Life of Otto Skorzeny. I loath that guy, but I also have to grudgingly admire him. Read him up.
I'ld also wish for a Trilogy based on the war of roses. The intrigues... the battles.... ahhh.
A movie about charlemagne.
A movie about the (various)sacks of paris by the vikings... or Aachen (sp?) (keeping it in a limited timeframe).
A fictitious "Invasion of Japan" movie (WWII)
A movie about mercenaries fighting in europe at the beginning of the 16th century.

Simply "World War II"
A massive several part affair that covers the entire war in every aspect, and all the major personalities therein, in a theatrical yet more or less accurate manner.
Yes I would deinatly want to see something like that, though I wouldn't mind it centred on a special battle during the War, be it Normandy or Stalingrad, .
Or maybe follow the battles from German Perspection, like a movie centred on the NAzi high command, from say 1933 to the Nuremberg trials.
Or a movie following Rommel on his campaigns through Afrika, from hte beginning to his suicide.
There is som much potential.
:balloon2:
I would like to see a movie accurately replicate Caesar's campaigns in Gaul and against the Senate with modern technology to simulate the battles as they acutually occurred. I absolutely love HBO's Rome, but I am incredibly disappointed that they have essentially eliminated the battles from the story. Alesia would be wonderful with a Hollywood budget.
I've always that that Albert Speer's life would make an interesting film as well.

A movie about Charlemagne would be great actually.
A movie dealing with Mahommet and the spreading of Islam.

Kenshin was almost certainly killed by disease
Excuse me?!
He was killed by a ninja. The ninja was hiding in the toilet. So when kenshin sat down, the ninja poked somehing long and point into him. It probably ripped some of his entestials (sp?) apart, so it also caused infection. Nevertheless, a ninja was responsible.

i would really like to see one on the battle of kadesh:egypt: (egypians vs hittites). it could have everything, deep thought out charechters (ramses II) betrayal (betrayed by beduions) murder (i belive ramses's 2nd in command was assasinated prior to battle) and of course a massive battle scene :viking: :bounce:

There are two theories about the deth of Uesugi Kenshin. First one is that he died on stomach cancer or some liver disease, becouse he was famous of his drinking habbits.
The second one is the ninja assasination in a toilet.
I support the first one becouse there is writings about Kenshin´s serious health problems in his late years.I think the second theory is more like folklore, becouse i think people wanted to glorify, the death of so famous warlord.:boxing:
But back to Topic.I would like to see a movie about the Swedish crusades on Finland.~:)

They tried to glorify his death by saying he was killed by a perv ninja who poked him in the can?~

I think the first one is most likely as well, especially because of accounts of him having major health problems in not only his later years but also in the weeks leading up to his death.
It makes a better story to say that the great warlord died after a ninja dishonorably stabbed him while he was on the can than to say he had a seizure and died on the can.
Maybe not glorifying Kenshin, but which would you prefer to be able to tell people? The seizure might get a chuckle, but the assassination would get a much greater response.

movie dealing with Mahommet and the spreading of Islam.
There is already one that is broadcasted with the start of Ramadan in Turkey every year - starring Anthony Quinn on Hz. Hamza 's role. Since illustration of Mohammed is forbidden and counted offensive in Islam, you won't see / hear Hz. Mohammed in any way though.
