We don't have a thread for info, updates and discussion yet so I though I'd make one.

For those who've been living under a rock for the past year: Chivalry Total War is a mod that brings roughly the same time period as Medieval TW to the RTW engine. It starts in 1072 a year after the Byzantine defeat at Manzikert, covers the Crusades (including a special crusading campaign) in 1095 and follwing decades, the hunderd years war between France and England, the Mongol Invasion and goes all the way to +/- 1500 AD, when early firearms were starting to get more popular.

We are currently focusing on the early era: 1072 to ~1200.

The new knights are indeed a great improvement, not that the earlier version was bad, though.
You´re already working on High and Late units, too?

Looking forward to the completion of this mode, is it going to be made for BI or 1.2 only, maybe it would be great to use BI combat system as it seems better in my opinnion.

the full version will be for BI, and there will be a limited version for RTW (battles only)

The best thin about the mod is that it all looks just right; everything fits together perfectly, from the units to the landscape. Certainly an improvement over a lot of other mods, where colours sometimes don't match nicely or don't fit with the landscape.

Too bad the campaign will probably never released, according to this:

It requires a new patch for BI and I´m less than optimistic about the probability of CA making one, and one fixing what´s required for this mod, too.

Hum, sorry, but how did you solve the building issue with scripting ?

buildings can be placed through scripting (console_command create_building town_name building_name IIRC). So I can first generate the rwm file without buildings, then add the new techtree, then add the new buildings with a script. But it's annoying and it might be slow adding 100s of buildings with that method.

Very nice. If you hit the NumLock key and space bar you can get rid of the blue line at the bottom and the cursor.

Those really look unreal. Amazing. Amazing I say! The Teutonic men-at-arms are a wonder to behold. I can NOT wait to slaughter thousands of lambs that have strayed from the path..... or... well you know how it goes. Really, really great stuff. Obviously. Oh I jusstt cann't waiiitttt..... to be kiinnnggggg.

Since the new links were put up for the Beta, I dl-ed the mod. All excited, I started her up. Unfortunately, it crashes right at the initial load screen : (

It is for RTW 1.2 right? If so, anything else that might be causing this?

yeah let's blame it on MP, and not on the fact that I basicly worked on this mod alone, while RTR, EB etc have an army of moddellers, scripters etc


It is for RTW 1.2 right? If so, anything else that might be causing this?

yes the 0.27(b) beta is for 1.2. Do you get some sort of error message ?

Nope. No message at all. Just right at the loading screen, shuts down and that's it.

Just out of curiosity, are these latest screenshots on the page in 0.27?

hell no, that version didn't even have unique skins for the units of all 4 available factions. Actualy I can't advice playing it anymore, cos Chivalry in it's current state is in no way comparable to that old beta anymore.

Amazing, and I agree with Paullus.
The late MAA and the Gendarmes could use the same shields as the MaA in the first post use. It would look well enough.

By which I mean: :2thumbsup: Fantastic work. I like the shields on the Men at Arms, they would look good on the Gendarmes as well.

It's probably cliche, but those models look as good as anything I've seen from MTW2 thus far. In fact, I'd say the textures are even better.

can you help the battle events sounds dont work, such as you genral is dead or the enemy general is routing. also is there crusades? its been 1100 AD. btw cant wait for high and late eras!

Battles are CTDing with Peasant cards coming up in place of horse archers and mounted seargents. Is anyone going to fix this so battles can actually be played and not auto-calc'ed?

BIZANTINE ARMIES AND THEIR UNIFORMS

Even your job looks great i have some sugestions about Bizantine Armies
scins. Acording to Dr.Ostrogorsky Bizantine army,succesor of the Roman one,
was until 13th century the only "regular" army in Europe.
That meens that professional units had uniforms of the same kind.
For example,units like your "themata taxeis","horse archers","trapeziatoi"
should have the same outfit like "skoutatoi"exept the armor of course.
Provincional units "thematic vandums" used the same type of shields like
"skoutatoi"since 8th centhury.
If the unit you use as "themata taxeis"where multi role infantry,I meen
spearmen and juvelineers they whould be a perfect simulation of"Akritai",
Bizantine borderers.
My opinion for maximun realism is that you must redesign the bizantine
scins using parts of the Rusian ones you have.
For the record Rusians copied Bizantines,not the oposite way.
Rusian general and family member scin is perfect for Bizantine ones too.

Hello all.
I played this mod.Very good mod.
That what i like more is history, mod's units is historic units.
But if you make mod with historic events, that will be a best mod what i saw.
