View Full Version : Grrr- ran out of time
I have been playing the ERE campaign on H/H for the last three weeks and I had just about sewn it all up. I had taken most of the WRE cities in italy and france and had left carthage with the WRE rebels as I didn't wan to finish just yet. (I find it hard to carry on after the victory screen as it is too open ended). I clicked next turn and bam- "you have lost". I can't believe I forgot to check the finish date and now I have saved over my campaign the year before, I won't have time to take carthage. Has anyone else done this yet? I feel so silly that I have wasted all that time, even if I have the knowledge that I could have won if I had tried.
still I will just have to win a quicker campaign to make myself feel a little better.

Thats a nasty surprise you got there my friend.
Next time, do take the time to look at the date every so often .
Anyway ,as of now, I'll never make this mistake - thanks for warning me ~D

You could always make your campaign longer by extending the dates in descr_strat text file @ C:\Program Files\Activision\Rome - Total War\bi\data\world\maps\campaign\barbarian_invasion
Make a back-up copy first, so you won't have to reinstall BI to get the original text files ~D All you have to do is change the start and / or end dates in the second section down in this text file (directly under the playable faction section). Not sure if there are hard-coded limits on these dates, might be best to check in the RTW Modding forum before giving yourself 400 years to complete a campaign ~D
Thanks- I don't really want to mod the dates as it is completing the campaign in the time limit that is the challenge. I can still go back and do it by contimnuing but I had already conquered 40 provinces and was easily powerfull enough to beat anything the AI could throw at me. I am just frustrated that I had left carthage deliberately then forgotten to check the finish date.
I have started a Goth campaign now and things are looking good. 426 AD and I have conquered greece (bar athens) italy and I am moving into southern france. only 5 more provinces and I can see the victory screen.
