After reading SFTS “Favorite Comic” thread I thought I would ask what’s your favorite comic book?~:) If there are any other grown-ups out there who still read the “funny books”.~;)
I am a big fan of the art so I tend to follow my favorite artists around regardless of the book but I really like the new Conan series and the New Avengers has been entertaining too.

I was thinking of thinks I like right now but to widen the scope I will add the Kingdom Come series, Frank Miller’s early Dare Devil stuff and hands down, without a doubt the best ever… Lone Wolf and Cub.~
Blade of the immortal and Samurai Executioner (same team that did the Lone Wolf and Cub series) are up on my list too.

I will add the Kingdom Come series
I love Alex Ross's art. You wouldn't think paint would work in comics, but apparently so.

Does the marvel ultimate series count?
The new Metal Gear Solid and new Streetfighter comics are also very good.
the new Conan series
Almost bought a few on a whim, but didn't have the cash for it. Tell me of them, please.
Well, I own more Spider-Man comics than anything else, but I wish I still knew where my What If?'s went. Even though no one else liked them at all, I rather enjoyed Spider-Man 2099.

They are good solid stories with the right combination of action and dialog (usually more action which, for a Conan book is good~;)) in kind of a realistic fantasy setting. Conan is always lucky and wins fights/treasure/girls but the unconventional way he usually wins is the fun part to read, end of the day he is usually back to where he began. ~:)
The art is unique, there is no “inking” a new guy named Cory Nord does the pencils then they are computer colored (in some pages they almost look painted~). He is on my list of artists to follow if he leaves the book. Note: there have been a few guest artists and they have been good too. ~
Rick Leonardi did the art in Spiderman 2099 in the beginning and I got all of them. The story was usually fun.~:)

You would probably really like Samurai Executioner. The story is focused on a character that Itto killed in Lone Wolf. He was a province executioner like Itto would have been but for the Shogun. Same artist, writer and format (the little thick books, in US at least).
Several Belgian, French and Dutch comics I like really much (since I was a kid). These include: Asterix, Lucky Luke, Suske & Wiske (in French: Bob & Bobette), Tintin, Gilles de Geus, etc. Most of these however stopped appearing because the author died or they have seriously declined in quality...pity. Les Tuniques Bleues however is still very good. It's a Belgian comic about Sgt. Cornelius M. Chesterfield and Cpl. Blutch of the Northern army during American Civil War. Drawings and humor are really good. http://kebawe.com/bullons/images/tuniques_s.jpg

Calvin and Hobbes will always be special to me. ~:)
On the other hand, I remember when I used to go down to the Hugendubel and pick up a new hardcover Asterix...

Manga all the way. And Love Hina, for me, is my current favourite. ~D
Hey! Don't look at me like that!
Stab my eyes! I can't believe I forgot Garth Ennises Punisher.

I'm sorry, but...it's just so hard. And hilariously stereotypical, I might add.
But, I've been on the Japanese side of things and I must say that Chobits was a better Clamp release than Love Hina. Have you read it?
-Lone Wolf and cub
Just stop right there. There shall be no other comics mentioned in the same post as this masterpiece. Just ... leave it be. There's Lone Wolf and Cub, and then there's everything else.

But, I've been on the Japanese side of things and I must say that Chobits was a better Clamp release than Love Hina. Have you read it?It is stereotypical, very much so. (It did help in terms of setting many of the stereotypical trends as especially popular though, and was the most well-done stereotype so far. ~D ) But It's Ken Akamatsu's and not Clamp's. Chobits, by the way...I couldn't get into it--the characters, save for Chi, looks kinda ugly and... "simple."
But I personally have this soft spot for Love Hina...long story, really, since my childhood, which in truth wasn't very far behind. ~;)
And I feel guilty for invading a comics thread with my manga-blabber. Though it is comics, manga is so much different that "we" are talking about Apples and French fries here.

I really thought it was a Clamp manga...I've been out of the loop for a while.
Well, I just found Chobits really funny. I'm not bothered much by artwork in any case.

My favourite is Hugo Pratt's Corto Maltese and especially
the Southsea-Ballad. It's quite well-known in Europe but
I don't know if it's been published in America.
Has anybody else read it?

Well, Corto Maltese seriously pwns. (I'm a Corto Maltese wannabe)
The good old Asterix were great
I enjoy reading Garfield (I actually have all the 'Garfield's available in France), cause it so reminds me of my own cat.
There are a few manga I really enjoyed, such as Monster, 20th Century Boys, Akira, Say Hello to Black Jack and Kaze no Shô. On the other hand, I hate all the 'Naruto, Pokemon and other Shonens'.

Yes, I've been one until Mr. Pratt informed me (in a interview)
that today's times is not a place for a character like him.
I'm quite sure though that it's a place for Rasputin. ~;)
