More Here (http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/internationals/4420426.stm)
England beat Argentina today 3-2 when Owen scored two headers to bring England back from 2-1 down...
i really enjoyed the match because, although it was only a friendly, it was a really heated game and both teams were really trying to beat the other like they had to prove something...
drinks are on me ~

I couldn't see the match because it was passed through cable here (and I don't have that channel). Anyway this is only preparation, so don't be too proud english boy (I mean all the english here).

England beat Argentina today 3-2 when Owen scored two headers to bring England back from 2-1 down... What? Two headers from that midget?
This must be the first time since 1986 that the smallest bloke on the pitch decides an England-Argentina with his head...
I didn't see the match though. I was having a dreadful evening watching France-Germany, 0-0. Not much more to say about that one.
Good, competitive match. Nice stuff overall I'd say. England are finally starting to do their stuff after (*Cough* Northern Ireland *cough*)

Northern Ireland
You called?
dont worry Soulforged the English would say exactly the same thing if they lost.
Now the media campaign will never stop about how great they think they are. The whole Germany 5-1 thing went on for years I just hope this won't as minnows have beaten bigger teams like
*Cough* Northern Ireland *cough*

I thought it was an exciting game, and despite me being English, I think we did it purely out of luck...Argentina would have had us if it weren't for a bit of luck there at the end. My congratulations to the England team however, and my thanks to Argentina for giving us such a good game. (I'm secretly an Argentina fan as well ~;) )

USA won't take the world cup. It'll be a European, Asian, or Latin American Nation (most obviously), but I can't see USA getting the WC for at least another few years, sorry to rain on your parade  ~;)

was a good game Argentenas 1st goal was dissalowed for no reason. Referee seemed a little harsh for a friendly.
but so were the tackles.
young wayne "who ate all the pies?" rooney then missed a delicate chip over the keeper.
And apart from that England were very lucky to escape without being beaten, let alone going on to win

did you see steven gerards shot from outside the box.... that was class! and Owen might be a midget but he is still a class striker.. the second header he basically stole from Crouch which i found funny...
one more friendly and on to the world cup then :charge:

It's going to be either Brazil, the Czech republik, or maybe even the English or us ( the Dutch ).
what ever it will be, its going to be an interesting WC.

I can't see the Czechs challenging to be honest, i'm not to sure about the dutch either. Don't count out the italians they will do well this year and spain will do well but we go out in the quarter finals like they always do~D
England played well last night but King in holding midfielder? What the hell was that about? Play scotty parker, he would be excellent for that role, he passes well, defends well and gets the boot in when it is needed

Well as long as Nedved doesn't get injured or suspended they have a chance you know ;)
And the Italians have one of the best teams , player wise, but they never make a real impression - they never give it their all.
At least, that's how I view them.
Your right about spain, always do well in the group fase, then get knocked out in the quarter finals.
England will be probably get past the quarter finals, as will the Dutch...
We really aren't a bad soccer team, we have great potential , really :)

i think they played in switzerland because it was a friendly and they wanted to be on neutral ground giving neither side an advantage of suporters... also the ref was swiss i think

He was Swiss. I think neutral ground wasn't the reason. Croatia played against Portugal yesterday in Portugal. And lost unfortunately.

No hard feelings "inglés", I look foward to a future confrontation between our two teams in the WC, it will be a sweet revenge this time...(maybe I'll travel only to break Beckham's legs)~;)

Because Switzerland and Austria are going to be the host nations for the Euro Championships in 2008 and they were having it here as a test run. The centre of town was full of armoured police and soldiers, in preparation for the "English" hooligans. Fortunately there were no incidents AFAIK.

Please, do, then he won't be able to lose anymore penalty shootouts for us.

Agree. I also don't like him because he's snobby. I wouldn't want anyone to break Gerrards legs. Did you see that assist for the second goal? Amazing.
Very good game.
I also got £90 from this game as I betted Crespo to score first.

Was in England, so saw that game instead of France-Germany. That was luck.
Slapper's analysis : France will be exterminated at next world cup by a team of world class like the 2 that played in Switzerland last saturday.
