View Full Version : Making factions un-diplomatic like rebels
Is it possible to mod factions so that they cannot interact in the diplomatic side of R:TW? I mean exactly like the rebels, they cant make diplomatic offers nor except them?
I havent seen this talked about so any help would be appreciated!
I bet this is hardcoded, but you never know ;)

Might it be possible to prevent a faction from building Diplomats? That would prevent them making diplomatic contact of their own accord, although they could still receive overtures from other factions... that's probably not good enough.

The at_war in the strat file? That only the slave faction has?:
core_attitudes slave, at_war_with empire_east, empire_west, franks, huns, sarmatians, sassanids, saxons, vandals, goths, celts, berbers, alemanni, ostrogoths, romano_british, slavs, empire_east_rebels, empire_west_rebels, roxolani, burgundii, lombardi
Maybe that will do it? They are the only faction with just that, not numbers.

You can stop a faction building diplomats by removing them from export_descr_buildings:
agent diplomat 0 requires factions { barbarian, }
Oddly enough, rebels are in the reverse situation, they can approach other people normally, however you are limited in how you approach them.
I presume this faction should therefore be constantly at war with the other factions, so you can run a script that would constantly reset their diplomatic stance each year.
Alternatively, you can get rid of diplomats altogether, as I believe lt1956 does in SPQR.

Andreas,
I noticed that distinction but on testing I concluded it meant absolutely nothing :(
Damn, I was thinking about using that... well, then just setting them at 600 probably is the best way to prevent alliances, except from removing diplomats which is not a sollution for me.
In fact, it does not help much to set the core attitudes at 600. After about 10 turns, two factions that had 600 against eachother declared ceasfire, and some turns later an alliance.
I did not say it was good, I said it was the best I had:)
Thanks for the replies,its a shame that you cant! thanks again.
