Anybody interested in playing a campaign as the Order of Teutonic Knights in the Baltic please try my mod, which is now available at:
http://www.totalwar.org/Downloads/MTW/Stats.shtml
This release (Part I) recreates the rise and blossom of the Order from 1237 to 1410. As a bonus, you can now train Teutonic Knights, Teutonic Sergeants and Order Foot Soldiers, but I have made them much more expensive, especially support cost, so don't expect to have a cheap uber army, especially with your meagre income. I have added correct flags and shields for the Order, and some Text adjustments. Names are all correctly German, as the mod uses the SWISS faction as a base.
The chance of Mongols showing up was greatly increased, so there might be a time when you have to stop them.
Hope some people will like my campaign. Any feedback is welcome. If there is interest for it I would like to create Part II which would deal with the fall of the Order beginning around 1400. This one should be also balanced from the Polish POW.
Have fun!

absolutly excellent work!
a tight, extremely studious mod that did damn near exactly what i wanted this game to do in the first place. bravo and keep the mods coming
one thing that i wasnt sure of - was the master of the order called the "ordensmeister" or "hochmeister"?
and wasnt the castle headquarters in marienburg, prussia? you sound like you know wht you are talking about tho so thats why im not saying these as facts

Your so kind mate! (smiles)
I am not an expert in the history of the Order, but I've always been interested and read some books. There is a Teutonic Order museum in Bad Mergentheim, Southern Germany I visited twice.
Your remark about the Hochmeister is absolutely correct, my fault. Don't know why I used Ordensmeister instead. In German "Ordensmeister" is a more general term that can be used to describe the Grand Master of any Order. I just didn't think too much about it, and will of course change it as soon as there is an update.
If you should still play the campaign, please right click on your castle in Prussia - I've changed the name to Marienburg. Btw the Marienburg is an incredibly impressing castle that today can still be seen in all it's glory. It is in Poland today, and I have plans to go there one day. You should find great pictures on the web.
If you should play the campaign after 1350, please let me know how it plays in the long term. Normally I break off my campaign after about 100-150 years, so I don't know if the SWISS faction will behave strangely after that. Another thing that comes to my mind is how the AI plays - I find they should be more aggressive towards the Order, but so far I don't know how to do it - so I might wait with my next release until the patch comes out.
There are still many possibilities. For instance I have just found out how to change the shields which are used in battle (they now use black/grey for Switzerland). When finished, they should look awesome and find their way into the the next version.

awesome man - one thing though, the hochmeister wouldnt be having heirs because he was an ordained brother in the catholic church like mother theresa with a sword and a bad attitude, if there is any way to change the info screen so that it says something else, itd be cool
il play the scenario right now actually

Of course there should be no heirs ;-) But it is hard coded for most factions.
But I don't know if something can be done about it. Maybe one could experiment with using the Papal faction ..
And please let me know if Poland / Russia ever attack you, for in my campaign they won't. I'm afraid that is my biggest problem with the AI right now.
I can't get anyone at all to attack me, apart from rebels and an Elmohead Jihad when I was asset stripping Normandy but I'd gone home long before it got there and the Elmos then offered an alliance again.
A Crusade sent to Khazar still hasn't provoked the Mongols into action against me in Lithuania.
This is my favourite campaign so far although I play on Normal usually. I lost the ability to produce "Teutons" after installing the patch but reinstalling the original MTW files from the Zip provided then reinstalling the mod again returned them.

EVERYONE ATTACKS ME - even hungary. everybody except novgorod. novgorod constantly tries to make peace with me, its weird
btw - i dont think that im downloading the patch, sounds like a waste of time that only makes things worse, i dont know if the new mod will only work with it or not, if so, then i guess id download the patch. im drunk

I also had the problem (?) that nobody attacks me first. But I'm a very peaceful player. I always wait until one real warmonger appears. In my own Order campaign I waited till the Hungarians got excommunicated (they conquered most of Germany by then), and only then I attacked - but struck hard - it nearly felt like cheating attacking with a 50% Order Troops army, even when I was outnumbered 2:1.
I will probably not work any more on the mod before I'm really deeply into the patch, though I know it still needs balancing. Balancing is a very time-consuming affair, so I might need some help of people who played the campaign.
Also, there are many problems with part II. As long as there is no way to "force" the Order and Poland into a war from the start, the 1410 campaign would be pretty useless. On the other hand, players could "voluntarily" attack Poland, as it should have happened before the Battle of Tannenberg. One also could apply a sort of "economic pressure".
Please let me know if there is a need to get rid of the SWISS shields in battle.

I'm sure the patch brings its own Crusader_Unit_Production.txt and Crusader_Build_Production.txt.
If you installed the patch before the mod you should backup the files as described in the readme, for using my original files will put these files back to 1.0.

if you buy out an army, the army has swiss shields - also, if your spies hear any news regarding you, they say "swiss"

Heya
Good job!
when are you going to upgrade your MOD to after-patch status?

You should be able to use the mod if you backup all v1.1 files that it changes.
Please post any problems you have with this and I will update it one day.
But so far I haven't even got the patch myself.
