View Full Version : Trying to fix Scipii 1.3

It is well known that Scipii are broken in 1.3. I've combed the pages here and haven't found any mention of this problem. I was hoping that some brilliant modder has found a solution. I am not a brilliant modder, I'm just starting.
I modded Scipii in the following way.

In descr_sm_factions.txt I changed it to "prefers naval invasions yes"

In descr_strat.txt I changed to: "faction romans_scipii, sailor napoleon"

Then I played two Carthage campaigns where almost all I did was hit end turn about 80 times. The scipii are still broken, however the problem is strange. The scipii built lots of fleets. In fact they have at least 5 fleets with troops loaded on them. They even have a fleet loaded with an army just off the coast of Carthage. However they never unload in Africa. Usually though they just load and unload armies at Capua in pointless fashion.

In both test campaigns the Julii invade Corsica. In one campaign the greeks took sicily then the Brutii invaded it in force. In the other campaign the scipii took syracuse but never went for libeyam(?). I made Carthage declare war on Scipii and they still never went for libeyam. Very strange. I suspect the Julii and Brutii must have acted on senate orders. If we could figure out how to mod senate orders that might do the trick.

Incidently the first campaign I ever played as Julii in vanilla 1.0 the Scipii did take most of Africa.

If there are any threads dealing with this issue, please point me toward them. I've browsed pretty throuroughly and can't find one.

Well, I don't know much about the files in RTW, but there is a good thread over at the official forums about the issue. It may be worth your time to look at.

You can put in land bridges. Make a land brigde from capua to Sicily. Then another land bridge from Sicily to Carthage. Although you may want to put that land bridge below the river tht's south of Carthage.

It's my understanding that land bridges work the same way they did in MTW, so you just need to do a little bit of modding to the campaign map.
